Fabulous viewpoint for photos. There is room to park both sides of the highway. Need to be careful if you have young kids as there are no rails around the areas where you take your photos.

Stopped here when driving south from Carmel down Highway 1 to the Big Sur coastline. The overlook stopping point is a great place to take a photo with the bridge in the background and mountains/ocean as backdrop. Definitely recommend making the stop for a least a few minutes to snap pictures, though be warned the parking areas can be crowded as this is a popular spot for everyone making this famous scenic drive. Great views while driving on the bridge itself too.

One of the most scenic backdrops I’ve ever seen! Just gorgeous. The bridge and water views are worth stopping!

An amazing drive. I was a passenger so very fortunate to be able to take all the views in. Bixby bridge is an well worth the stop, if only for 5 minutes.

Everyone has seen pictures of this bridge that was one of the first built on Highway 1 south of Carmel. If you want to see it, plan on really tough parking and traffic jams rivaling 'bear jams' in the National Parks. You can only get the best view from the north side.

I’ve lived only an hour’s drive from Big Sur for almost forty years. For thee decades, it was so uncrowded, I felt it was my own. It was a spiritual place where I came to recharge. No longer. No matter the day of the week or the time of day, there are hoards (this is not exaggeration- in fact it’s not an adequate word) of travelers from every country in the world, of late and in the greatest volume, China.

Take a look into the Mercury News article attached. These visitors are tearing the place apart; leaving garbage, causing wrecks, endangering themselves and others as they take photos and drone shots and parking g illegally and dangerously.

Big Sur is no more. For those who felt as I felt about its spirit-lifting solitude, find another place until our State starts to put controls on access and the numbers of people allowed.

So sad.

If you're staying in Monterey or Carmel, you should do yourself a favor and take the drive down to Bixby Bridge. It's an Iconic bridge that you've probably seen dozens of photos of or in movies and tv shows.

It's quite spectacular and beautiful and definitely worth a few photos. Please be careful about parking, walking, or hiking to get that one of a kind shot.

Saw this bridge on the computer at home & wondered where it was cause it looked fabulous, finally found out where it was and that it was on our route down through California so we had to stop & get some pics.
The bridge looks far better in real life, a great place for a photo shoot & a break from driving.

We always make a point to stop and marvel at this bridge! There is a nice pull over to get out and take some nice photos of the bridge and coast line.

I had seen the bridge from the sea and stopped on a drive down the coast. It's very scenic and a great photo op, but consider it a brief stop along a longer journey.
