Review of Beyond Khaolak
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Feb 2016via mobile
We recently stayed here on the recommendation of our travel agent and have not been disappointed. We spent at week in the Pullman in Pattaya which I'm glad we did because when experienced Beyond, one could not compare - this resort was just magnificent. We had the prefect Premier villa - 1305, it was located so close to what was an amazing pool, bar and restaurant and the pristine beach (with no hassling sellers of goods).
The staff from reception - Phil and his team of beautifully helpful staff to the Eddie, Alma and staff at the bar who made you important every time you popped in to the kind housekeeping staff who made up our room everyday. We felt like a King and Queen.
The Villa was amazingly set up, the space was wonderful. The decor brilliant. We even had our own little cats visiting us which slept on the outside day bed.
The pool was tremendous - we had our regular spot which gave us the best views and you could sunbake then just slide into the refreshing pool.
We experienced chinese new year which was so well put together, very entertaining and even Mr. Frei got up and spoke which was wonderful to put a face to a name, we even had theme evenings which were also done with great thought.
The resort is a large complex and spending only 8 nights was not enough for us, we relaxed by the pool for days and were served cocktails and snacks - loved the two happy hours. Just means we definitely have to go back and soon. Oh and no children - sorry but it was bliss.
My only dislike were the bugs, mosquitoes, sand flies and flying ants at dusk. Smoother in insect repellent as you'll get attacked and bitten. The resort tried hard to accommodate but they can't help for mother nature.
Thank you Beyond please stay as you are and we'll see you again.

Service is top-knotch! This is a huge resort with spa, restaurants and bar. It's located directly on a beautiful beach and the beach isn't crowded at all. Lovely pool area. We lived in an elite villa and is was perfect! We chose one with a jacuzzi (you can opt for one with a pool as well) and it had sunloungers in the private garden. The Villa and the garden is surrounded by a tall fence which provides privacy. It also has an outdoor shower. It's easy to be romantic here.

First trip to Thailand and after 3 days in Bangkok we chose to stay at the beyond resort Khao Lak. Amazing resort on a simply wonderful beach. We had breakfast included (very nice) and ate in the resort 3 nights at their beach restaurant. From the reception area the Villas are all set off a central avenue with ponds. There are a few 'luxury' villas with pools on or close to the beach. our villa was large, clean, great air con, lovely bathroom etc. and was a real treat. We didn't have a sea view but then only those 'luxury' villas did.

beach - miles of lovely beach, no motorized water sports, yoga / massage on the beach. bars and restaurant with really good food and drinks. favorite Pa Son next to Beyond.

the other nights we went into bang nang (well that's how you pronounce it...) to the main strip and didn't have a bad meal. very happy. Had to have Pizza and chips one night (Pinnochio) just to get rid of western food cravings....

did the boat trip to the similan islands and swam with amazing fish and a sea turtle.

to sum up - loved it

Room tip: close to the beach as possible

This is a beautiful resort - and for adults only. Located on a beautiful beach with the Anaman sea lapping its shores. This is a fantastic spot for sunsets too. There are 3 main restaurants; Siam (Thai) Good Friends (seafood) and the Beach Cafe. The latte two are located on the beach front - so perfect for post sun cocktails or a romantic dinner. You can also book private dining on the beach - which is lovely for honeymooners - but the restaurants on the beach private the same views with great staff - so I didn't book this. Siam is away from the beach front but has fantastic authentic food, great service and a calm atmosphere. I loved this and went a few times during my stay. The gardens Re very beautiful and the accommodation overlooks the gardens with very private patio areas each with own garden views. There are a few private beach front villas with a small pool - looked nice - didn't stay in one, but there are a few people on the beach in the day, so there is a lack of immediate privacy if this is an issue. There is a small a cheap (£6) taxi into main town or a free shuttle bus from hotel. Khao Lak town a must to visit as has wonderful shops, market and eateries to explore. All very friendly and European friendly.

Room tip: Garden view rooms are lovely

We just returned from a 2 week break here (23rd Jan to 6th Feb) staying in one of the standard villas. What greeted us on arrival was an impressive reception area with very polite staff handling our check in. Then took us by golf cart to our villa. We found the villa/room we stayed in to be spacious, clean, well appointed and with nice little touches like slippers, bath robes, bowl of fruit and drinks in the fridge (which were replenished daily free of charge!). We also learned that we were being upgraded to half board, when we had originally booked B&B.

The hotel grounds are very well kept and are very pretty. There is a very relaxing atmosphere here with the sound of tropical birds and tinkling fountains!

We eat breakfast at the main restaurant every morning. They do their very best to cater for all Western and European tastes and this was all good!

We did however want to try local restaurants (of which there are many!) around the beach areas for our evening meals and mainly eat at the hotel restaurants on some of their 'Themed nights' (BBQ, Hawaiian, Thai nights)

All the staff at the hotel are so friendly and can't do enough for you. It really mad our two weeks a trip to remember and we really didn't want to come home!

There are a couple of areas where they could improve on though...

Sunbeds:.. There is a polite note in the villa info book about not reserving sunbeds. This is always a problem area in many hotels. But it did say that towels would be cleared if any beds are reserved before 10am. However, this did not happen. I went on one of the organized trips one day and had to have an early breakfast. I was amazed to see that around 30 or so towels had been placed on sunbeds at 6:45am and the culprits were in the restaurant having breakfast!! ... I think that bigger notices should be put up around the pool to enforce this and all towels removed up to 10:30am (the time breakfast finishes) if nobody is sitting on them... It can't be that hard to do??

Also, the beds are a little on the hard side. I realise it must be difficult to cater for all tastes, and we did ask to have the mattress topper put on ours. But the topper is only really a very thin duvet type attachment, which didn't really do much. I don't think it's too much to ask for a place of this size to store a few 'soft' mattresses for those who ask for them?

This place really does have it all; A quiet, relaxing and serene environment. Good food, lovely accommodation, helpful and polite staff, lovely beach and is in a fantastic location for some great trips out.

We'll be back for sure!

Room tip: If you can afford the extra, ask for one of the beach-front villas with own 'plunge pool'

Dear Mike T,

Many thanks for your review. We are aware of the lounger situation and the bad habit of some customers. We have, on the other hand, enough for all guests, I rather sleep in the morning than get up to reserve a bed. But its F1 feeling... position is all that counts.
Looking forward to have you back again soon

We absolutely loved our stay here at this resort, we had been booked by our good friend Gustav to spent some time together at Beyond and it was just a great experience.
We loved the 18+ concept which meant a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere on the beach and around the pool area, also noticeable that there where no music from loudspeakers at the pool bar, which so often is the case in other resorts, perfect for us to relax.
Beautiful appointed villa’s, well maintained and equipped with wonderful beds and free mini- bar and well working WI-FI.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were delicious and in an acceptable price range.
In summary we had a great time and enjoyed our stay very much and certainly will recommend this resort to our friends and wouldn’t hesitate to return in the near future to this little paradise !
Thank you Mr.Frei and your team for generous hospitality !
