My family of four stayed at the Mauna Lani Bay Resort Hotel and Bungalows. We had an ocean view room and our view from the lanai was beautiful. Sitting on the lanai (facing the Canoe House Restaurant), we could see the beautiful landscaping (lush plants, ponds, and waterfalls) and most importantly, we saw the ocean! Falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean was amazing. The hotel room itself was clean and had all of the usual offerings from hotels. The staff is friendly and the meals at the Ocean Grill and Bay Terrace (buffet breakfast) were good. Perhaps the best part of the Mauna Lani is that it is a beach front property and that the interior and exterior landscaping makes you feel like you are truly in paradise! Each day after breakfast, we walked out to the beach, set up a cabana or chairs under a shady tree and enjoyed the beautiful ocean. We were able to get snorkeling equipment each day and saw an array of fish, sea turtles, etc. Everything you need for a perfect and relaxing vacation is right there at the Mauna Lani resort. An added bonus is the ability to drive, bike, or even walk (if you're up to it) to the Shoppes at Mauna Lani. The shoppes offers a variety of restaurants, a small market, and different retailers.

I could go on and on about the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows. Every aspect of our stay was excellent. We did not want to leave. I'm already plotting our return. :) Just hope with the hotel closure until Nov./ Dec. 2019 that it still retains it's charm, lovely staff, and most of all is not going to be priced in the stratosphere. Love this place and could see myself returning year after year for a little piece of paradise.

We stayed at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel for 5 nights in August 2018. We had a wonderful time and plan to return once they reopen in 2020. The resort is located about 30 minutes from the Kona Airport. It's a beautiful resort! The service from all of the employees was top-notch. Most of the employees have been working at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel for many years and take pride in their work. The hotel facilities are well maintained and clean. We had a 5th floor room with a view of the bay. Our room was cleaned every day. We had lunch at the poolside bar but we did not get a chance to eat dinner at their restaurants. (Will do so our next visit.) The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel is genuinely a warm and friendly place and it embodies the "Aloha Spirit" of Hawaii.

We stayed here for the last nights of our week in the Big Island and it was wonderful. Relaxing, great food, lots to do! Best beach we have found to just rent a cabana and chill out. The Big Island doesn’t have many beaches so this was nice to have the hotel have its “own” beach. Swam with sea turtles here so that was great. Waitress just told me they will be closed for 13 months to renovate multimillions in upgrades I didn’t even realize they needed. If your looking for AFTER 2019, it’s probably going to be unbeatable.

The first hotel I ever vacationed at without any issues. The weather was hot but not the hotel's fault.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We like to stay up late but most services were shut down by 8 PM.

Never wanted to leave. The relaxing atmosphere of laid back old Hawaii and the sounds of the ponds and music and the beautiful dancing were magical! Just spectacular! Our room was clean and refreshing with beautiful view! Our stay was 11 days I never enjoyed myself more!
