There are so many places to stop and just look at the view along the shoreline here, that it could take you a week to see everything. Need a car.

The lake offers many attractions, excellent eating and excellent travel times to access the beaches and the lake. Accommodation is easily found and of a high standard. Living on the lake most of my life and travelling extensively has opened my eyes to the beauty we have at our door steps. Million dollar views are everywhere.
We live here and still can't get enough of this beautiful lake. It's sheer size is enormous and there is just so much to see and do around and on it. Whether we are biking or walking around it or kayaking on it or swimming in it there is something new and different to see every day. Truly spectacular!
Breath taking, beautiful, amazing! Cannot express how lively the lake is, only a 2 hour drive from Sydney! It is a crime to live in Sydney and not visit!!
Lake Macquarie is easily accessible by land, sea and air and is located to the south of Newcastle NSW. As a local and frequent explorer I urge visitors to rigorously research the Lake and surrounds. I find Google Maps very useful especially for overviews.
This is the largest salt water lake in the Southern Hemisphere and there are literally hundreds of unique natural attractions to enjoy. It is a paradise for boaties, floaties and surfers; hikers, bikers, walkers, and runners. There are Lake spots, beautiful ocean beaches, plenty of good accommodation and fine dining.
Come and play in our wonderland - all things being equal, you should have a ball. And maybe also a bat.......
I went for a walk just before dusk, starting from Warners Bay. The path along the shore is lovely. Hslf way along we came across a beautiful sea eagle eating a big fish it had caught. I've never seen one so close up before and it was amazing to see such wildlife in suburbia.
