The ship itself is impressive and very well kept. You can spend hours walking around it. Sometimes there are entertaining arrangements or the possibility of buying food like they made it on the ship when it was operational - check the time table. Great interactive museum in the building - good fun for all ages. There is also a vast souvenir shop with lots of decorating art and crafts. Note: It's not recommended to eat at the very poor and expensive restaurant next to the ship. Service is terrible (kids that don't know anything), food is not home made and prices are steep - walk 5 minutes uptown instead to restaurant "Mellem Jyder" or another place in the old part of Ebeltoft.

In the harbour of Ebeltoft in a huge dock, lies the tallship Jylland. It is an extraordinary ship, both in terms of good conditions, the size and the exciting history of it. Here you can see the royal cabins, the smaller cabins for the ship's crew as well as the huge deck. You can also climb the masts. You can walk around the ship inside and outside and it's just a fantastic piece of danish craftmanship.

Amassing piece of Danish wood war ship history. If you are there around 12:00, experience the firing of one of the old canons. Just another piece of disruption when entering from sail to steam:-)

Happened to be staying in Aarhus and thought this worth the bus trip around the coast - and it certainly was! The restoration of this 19th century frigate is a story in itself, and the way the life and times on board is portrayed was very evocative. Good use of AV on board the ship near the cannons and in the the museum building itself. Special mention of the display about, and film of, the actual damage round shot could do to these ships. The surrounding buildings have many artefacts related to the frigate.
A nice, enjoyable museum at a reasonable price.

Before our visit, I thought we might be there for a couple of hours before exploring the town of Ebeltoft, boy was I mistaken. We arrived around 11am and had to force ourselves to leave at 4:30pm as we were meeting up with friends. We had such an amazing day there, we were luck that it was a beautiful, sunny day, I can imagine if it's rainy your visit may be a bit shorter. We brought our kids, ages 5 and 7, and they had as much fun as we did.

We started off by exploring the museum inside, which had a beautiful exhibition. Then we headed to the main attraction - Fregatten. We were on deck for the cannon show, which is not to be missed (the first part is in Danish, but stick around for them to fire the cannons, it's loud and spectacular!)

After that we met up with our guide, and received a guided tour in English (they have tours in Danish and German as well). The guide was amazing, he had a wealth of knowledge about the ship, the people that sailed it, the wars and overall history.

We had brought our own lunch, and sat outside at the picnic tables to enjoy that, before exploring the workshops and outdoor facilities. After that we spend 50 kroner for my husband to climb the mast. What an experience! I still can't get over that they only charge 50 kroner for this. It was at least 30 minutes up and down, with 2 helpers and time on top to enjoy the views, and the guide pointing out the sights.

Then it was time for ice-cream before heading inside again to go downstairs to have our own cannon battle. This is a lot of fun for kids, the floor is moving and they fire onto a big screen.

We ended our day in the giftshop, which has unique and beautiful items for sale, as well as postcards, trinkets and more.

All in all, a day we won't soon forget, and we will definitely be back again!
