We visited the pool only as we had access to it as part of staying at another local hotel. The whole establishment is stuck in the 60s. The pool changing rooms had horrendously filthy floors and the keys to the lockers barely functioned. I commented to the staff that the floors needed cleaning but she went off never to be seen again. You won't be seeing me again either!

We (5 middle aged) booked an apartment to celibrate a birthday. As it was a gastronomic evening we decided to book the dinner as well. Reception is very plastic compressed wood cheap and easy to maintain. On arrival you need to pay directly. We wanted to pay separately, but that was not possible. One bill. We booked an apartment for 5 persons which was around 100 euro the night. But as it is an apartment you have to pay 50 euro for the cleaning!!!!!! PLUS a guarantee of 100 euro. The total bill was 560 euro for one night (130 euro pp)!!!! Apartment was basic. You need to do your own bed and they provide towels who has been washed a million times. NO soap or shower gel. No double beds only single beds. The restaurant is huge and looks like a factory. Everyone is served the same time. Quality of food was half/half same for the wines. Not oustanding and certainly not worth 62.50 euro pp. After dinner we decided to have a drink in the apartment and go to sleep. The next morning we had to leave the room BEFORE 10 am. As we paid for the cleaning a fee of 50 euro we left the beds and the 5 glasses. 2 days later we received a letter that they reduced 20 euro because we did not clean the 5 glasses and the bed linnen was not removed. This brings a total of 70 euro just for cleaning. They should be ashamed. I contacted them to tell tell we paid for the cleaning but they did not wanted to discuss this matter. Our mutual advice....lGO TO A HOTEL, YOU EAT BETTER, SLEEP BETTER, YOU CAN CHECK OUT LATER, HAVE BREAKFAST and NO HIDDEN COSTS.

Four of us used an apartment here while visiting Belgium for a long Aikido weekend. The apartment had great views, four beds (two drop down in the main living/kitchen room). An added bonus was the balcony which afforded excellent views over the town as we were on the fifth floor. Breakfast was a little 'limited', consisting of the usual ham, cheese, rolls, although we did also find some decent scrambled eggs. All in all, good value for money if you want a functional base.

We stayed at the Floreal club hotel in Nieuwpoort for one day and night. We booked a room with 4 beds. The cost was about 140 euros for the night (approx 182 USD), a fair price for a relatively old hotel in a Belgian beach town. We had to put in a deposit of 100 euros. The hotel is old, and looks a bit ugly from the outside. On the inside, the reception and restaurant areas are nice, but the hallway to the rooms looks like a hospital built in the 1960's. After the check in, we discovered there were only two beds in the bedroom, and after calling the reception, we found out the room had beds integrated in the wall in the kitchen area, i.e. in the kitchen/living room space, which is very tiny. They simply needed to be pulled down. So far, so good. Next thing we discovered is that the beds weren't made up. So we called and they said there were bed linens in the cupboard at the entrance. So we decided to be good sports and make up the beds ourselves. When we checked out the next morning, at the reception, we had to wait 20 minutes for the hotel crew to check our room. Turns out, it was not in order because "we had not vacuumed, nor had we removed the bed linens and folded them". For a second I was looking for the hidden camera, suspecting I was the target in a comedy show. But it turns out they were serious. So we had the option, either go back and vacuum the room (although we had not eaten anything and only spent the night there), and remove the bed linens, or loose part of the deposit. I asked how much i would loose and it was 30 euros. So i asked for the remainder back (70 euros) and decided to go without vacuuming and doing the beds. In net, I will never go back to the Floreal in Nieuwpoort. Couple more details: the hotel did not provide soap or shampoo in the room, and at breakfast all the beverages were gone by 9.30am when we arrived, with no refill. The only positive: the pool is nicely done, recently renovated and very clean, albeit with a lot of chloride in the water which can hurt your eyes. At least I did not have to clean the pool area at night!

Room Tip: The walls are very thin between the rooms, any noise will likely disturb the neighbours as we discov...
