We chose to stay at Wayanad Wild, as we had stayed at the other CGH Earth properties and we are familiar with their hospitality. After reading many reviews, this property seemed like the safest bet in Wayanad. As per the reviews, because of the pandemic many hotels and resorts suffered huge losses and their maintenance was not up to the mark.
The ride to the resort is a very bumpy 20 minute, jeep ride provided by the resort. Once you enter the premises, it is absolute bliss. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Syam welcomed us very well at the CGH parking. Aleena and Shibin offer great service at the restaurant and so do the other restaurant staff. The naturalists Jyothis, Dhanya and Jhishnu are very passionate about their job and are ever ready to help you with identifying any creature. The chef interacts with all the guests and he caters to their needs. We enjoyed the food for it's taste, quality and variety. 5 stars to all the staff.
The cottage room is large, clean, well ventilated and contains all the amenities that CGH Earth properties provide. The balcony offers a view of the forest and is a great place to relax.
It is a steep climb to the rooms and one can walk or take a golf cart. We stayed at the resort for 4 nights and we did not feel like leaving the resort.
The weather was amazing, it was cool and it rained too. You can hear the sounds of the birds, insects, monkeys, Malabar giant squirrels etc. very distinctly.
They have a few activities like hiking in the morning, afternoon and night. The other activities are cooking demonstrations for kids and adults, talks on birds, insects etc. They have a game room too, where one can play caroms, table tennis or watch TV.
If you love nature, then this is the place to be!!!
Cons:
1. The towels provided do not serve their purpose in such a cool climate. They need to get new Turkish towels
2. An exhaust fan should be provided in the bathroom. It is well ventilated but one cannot open the ventilators at night, as the insects come flying in from all over.
3. During the peak season, the staff are unable to clean all the rooms in time. There should be more house keeping staff.
