Having now stayed in two other KDTC hotels I had a fair idea what to expect. The only question was would this one outperform the previous two or sink to a new low?
If location is all important, then whoever chose the location for this one needs help. Located off the main road, the hotel is down a badly rutted side road. After the rice-processing factory, the very pungent bone-processing plant, the metal, bricks, granite and cement works and shortly past the more pungent rubbish tip, there, on the right is the KDTC Tamarind Easy Hotel, Quite how this place hopes than anyone will drive up for lunch in their family restaurant defies belief.
Whilst it lacks the cracked wall and damp motif that the previous two KDTC hotels shared, it does have the unstaffed reception desk, the general run-down atmosphere of a KDTC hotel. There's a stagnant water feature in the middle of the courtyard, in which a couple of bottles forlornly float. the bathroom is basic, there are two water glasses wrapped in paper but no water.
Attempting to get food in the empty restaurant was a lost cause too; there's no menu, and the staff said they had a "limited menu," which seemed to mean they had some chappatis, but that was it. I gave up. I could have walked back in to town past the various industrial sites again, but my heart wasn't in it. A dinner of bananas, dates and peanut bars it would have to be.
A sad, depressing hotel in a terrible location. No reason to stay here unless you utterly had to. based on my experience of these three KDTC properties, they cannot be making a profit, probably will be closed down at some point and deserve to be based on the appalling standards of hospitality that they offer. Based on location and lack of food, this has turned out to be the worst of the three.
