We visited the Jolly Farmer recently and despite being within reasonable walking distance from where we live in Warsash we haven't been there for some years. One reason is the small bar (OK, it does sell itself as a country inn) the other three pubs in the village are much bigger especially the Silver Fern which in comparison is huge. The small bar area means everyone can hear every one else. In warmer weather, no problem, there is a garden to sit in or even in the front where there are three picnic tables though you will be drinking a mere pavement width from Fleet End Road (check it out on Street View).
Perhaps the JF should be considered more a restaurant which, with two rooms, is large enough though it seemed rather gloomy with brown the main decor colour. We had an excellent fish 'n chips with a generous helping of fish, good service, too.
There is accommodation available and plenty of car parking space. Oddly the place doesn't have a website to sell itself. The JF is a stroll away from Warsash Common and then along an unmade road it's possible to walk down to Southampton Water where it joins the Solent. Walk along the shore next to a nature reserve, very popular with bird watchers.More
