We chose this spot to stop over on the way to Cinque Terre. Great move! We were jet-lagged out and had taken the train from Genoa. It is close to the train station. What a gorgeous room and view...we got one of the garden terrace rooms. Large patio overlooking the beach.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean room. Good breakfast.

In fact when we finally got to Cinque Terre, we were so put off with the crowds and noise, we thought of cutting it short and going back early to the Hotel Casmona.

Camogli was on our grande tour of EU and we were not disappointed. The beach was long w/ many different beach clubs for a suntan and Hotel Casmona was a VERY good pick right in the center of the action. Beach clubs are pay for use, but the charges are minimal.

Make sure you read the directions on how to get to the hotel as you have to wind your way through town and stop at the top of a dead end street (turns into a pedestrian street) and then a 1 minute walk and down the stairs to the hotel. After check in you then return to your car and park it in a nearby lot.

We had a 3 night stay ay the hotel at the end of June/early July and it was a very nice stay. The Hotel has spectacular ocean views, a tremendous breakfast and drink patio, and a terrific staff which was helpful throughout the stay.

The room was one of their family ones and it was a great as it had 2 single beds and a queen for the mom and dad. The bathroom was ultra chic w/ a great tub and shower and a load of non-essential essentials for the hair and body. There appeared to be a co-located pizza place which we ate at for lunch and was OK at best. Nearby bakeries, several good spaghetti and pasta restaurants and a great local fish restaurant and it was all very nice.

It was all within walking distance and we never had to touch our car. Room was very clean but kind of a funky hallway cleaning smell persisted throughout our stay but it did not bleed into the room. Our view from the room was literally over the ocean and we had a big storm one night and it was like spending a night out on our boat in the Atllantic w/ the blow going on. Which we loved.....

They gave a nice little clock and baseball caps as we checked out. Very charming, very nice, a little short on perfect but a place we would ABSOLUTELY go back to.

This is not a luxury hotel…it’s definitely more of a beach hotel. If you’re ok with that, then we absolutely recommend it, especially a room with a patio. The accommodations were fine, but nothing spectacular. There was peeling paint in the bathroom, the shower was a very small tube, the hairdryer was literally a tube that was attached to the wall, and we were given a hard time for wanting a bottle chiller for our champagne. HOWEVER, the patio and view we had overlooking the water could not be beaten. Our patio was huge, and we enjoyed the sunset, town and water views every night. The town is quaint and stunning, with great restaurants. It is definitely a fishing village, so all of the fish and seafood that we had there was incredible. The breakfast at the hotel was perfectly fine…cheeses, meats, yogurt, breads, quiche, fresh coffee, etc. It was a bit difficult driving to the hotel since the roads are narrow and very curvy, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not too bad. It’s very easy to take the train to Cinque Terre, since the train stop is very close to the hotel. It’s about an hour ride, and a great place to hike. We were lucky that is was not crowded at all. Just make sure to remember the sunscreen. It was actually really hot and the sun was blaring down on us! We started at the furthest one, Riomaggiore, and came back to Manarola (a very easy walk), Corniglia and Vernazza (those two hikes were definitely more challenging). We didn’t get to Monterosso, since that was the hardest hike and the town didn’t seem as impressive as Vernazza. We originally wanted to take a boat from the hotel, but it only runs on Sundays. We also drove to Portofino, which was a bit challenging because of the roads, but definitely a place to check out. So overall, Casmona is a great place to stay if you want to explore the area. Make sure you get a room with a patio, and don’t expect a luxury hotel.

Stayed in late July 2007 with my family of four, including my wife and my 19 and 21 year old sons. Right on boardwalk of small resort town that is vacation destination for beach- loving Italians. We stayed 6 nights (five full days). Major attraction is Cinque Terre. My wife's and my room had a wonderful and very large patio. My sons stayed in a room with a nice view of Ligurian.sea. Camogli is a gem of a town. Nice beach (but , alas, no sand; Italians don't mind). Local church is beautiful and the town is right on the ocean. This is a really good town to stay in if you want to avoid non-Italian tourists. The rooms were large (by European standards) and everything about them was first rate. Breakfast was good with server being especially attentive and competent. We had problem with one of the front desk staff because her English was poor to non-existent. Since she runs a hotel that caters to many English speakers, it was pretty amazing that even the most obvious thing was difficult to communicate with her. Anyway, she was a minor problem. The Cinque Terre was crowded and extremely overrated--if you want to experience the Italian coast, by all means go to Amalfi. The hotel was good and it's not Casmona's fault that we booked for too long. Would stay there again in a heart beat.
