Sometimes you might feel a bit discouraged on Rhodes - restaurants on the "main drags" often have billboard touting hamburgers and weinerschnitzel. Kalypso was so much above the rest of the pack that we went back there the next day.
The menu included some Greek favorites, though omits some typical dishes and also has some that weren't commonly found elsewhere. We started with the saganaki, and right from that it was done very well. I enjoyed the simple yogurt with honey desert, perhaps made so good by the particular type of yogurt they use.
If you eat on the rooftop, you have a nice view of the Acropolis. You can watch people going up and down the narrow path up the mountain all day long. Some neighborhood cats and one kitten came by while we were there. Several diners at the restaurant had fun playing with the kitten while waiting for their food to arrive.
The lower level is situated in the courtyard of a historic captain's house, which is also done very nicely.
Service was friendly and laid back. A perfect Greek restaurant. Strongly recommended.
