“Great Greek Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2011

Sometimes you might feel a bit discouraged on Rhodes - restaurants on the "main drags" often have billboard touting hamburgers and weinerschnitzel. Kalypso was so much above the rest of the pack that we went back there the next day.

The menu included some Greek favorites, though omits some typical dishes and also has some that weren't commonly found elsewhere. We started with the saganaki, and right from that it was done very well. I enjoyed the simple yogurt with honey desert, perhaps made so good by the particular type of yogurt they use.

If you eat on the rooftop, you have a nice view of the Acropolis. You can watch people going up and down the narrow path up the mountain all day long. Some neighborhood cats and one kitten came by while we were there. Several diners at the restaurant had fun playing with the kitten while waiting for their food to arrive.

The lower level is situated in the courtyard of a historic captain's house, which is also done very nicely.

Service was friendly and laid back. A perfect Greek restaurant. Strongly recommended.

“Wonderful and authentic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2011

Having read the reviews on tripadvisor...we managed to find Kalypso hidden away in the myriad of streets in the village of Lindos. We had a table in the open courtyard which was just gorgeous as evening turned to night. Some very nice local wine washed down a gorgeous moussaka and was followed by complimentary cake and ouzo from the owners. We ended the meal with some backlava which was very tasty!

The setting is lovely. You enter a courtyard and can choose to sit there, inside or on the roof-top. We chose the courtyard which is just outside the old captain's house which has been in the family for 300 years! It really is a step back in time. Good food coupled with a nice relaxed atnmosphere made this a wonderful evening. 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 backlava with wine was €40 (the cake and ouzo was complimentary). Excellent value in my book!

“Absolutely Fabulous as always”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2011

If you are visiting Lindos then this is the restaurant to try, the food is prepared with passion using local ingredients. The hospitality offered by Rip, Angie and their staff is second to none, believe us we've been visiting for a number of years.

Here's to April 2012.

“Authentic athmosphere & food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2011

The restaurant is situated in downtown Lindos in a traditional captain's house. We had a table in the main room with a very enjoyable athmosphere. First and main courses tasted greek (as long as we as German tourists could assess that), and the service was fast and friendly. Worth to visit once again!
