The great - size of room, fridge (but better had it not been stocked as a minibar), beautiful architecture and renovation, location - just off the motorway and 5 minutes drive to Caceres. The food was great - one of the best meals that we had had in Spain - although the restaurant was empty. Highly recommend the langoustines and duck - the staff were happy to let our children share a pizza and even rustled up an off menu dessert. Ana - the server - was lovely. Breakfasts great.
The good - access to the spa is by timed slots - annoying at first but you then realise that this means that it is never overcrowded. Our children were also allowed in, and loved it - one of the highlights of their holiday. Tried a facial and massage - also very good.
Not so good - the hotel seems to be set up to cater for large events and there was a wedding on our second day, which did rather change the ambiance. No coffee maker in the room - a Nespresso machine would have been great. No iron or ironing board in the room and limited TV channels.
The bad - the outdoor pool is tiny and freezing cold.

Stayed there with a group of people for 2 days. Nicely redone old cattle farm with all the basic features of a Spanish country hotel. The food was not good but that might be explained by the fact that is was buffet style. Hotel reception had a strange habit of writing down and coping all details from my credit card after I had already paid. I also forgot my passport there and even if they promised to send it to me they still haven't even it has been more than a month since I stayed there.

Place is beautiful, room very, very comfortable and attractive. Gorgeous views. Staff extremely helpful. Pool very relaxing - high-pressure jets and an overhead waterfall great on shoulders. Great location next to Park of Barruecos, which is gorgeous, great hiking - and dozens of nesting cranes. Breakfast a little overpriced, but quite good. Would stay again in a hearbeat.

Room Tip: Second floor has best views.

Booked a night as it was half way ish from Bilbao to Cabanas de Tavira.
Arrived at 8.30pm to a warm and very hospitable welcome. The hotel is out of Cacares but that is a good thing to us. We did go into Cacares as the hotel name on the route finder takes you there, however if you use the co ordinates it will send yo to the right location.
Our room was spectacular and huge and has everything you need, warm and comfortable and the cat was impressed to say the least. Helpful friendly front of house staff helped us to take everything to our room.Once in we changed into clothes fit for the dining room, rather than scabby driving clothes, to go into dinner. What a fab menu and the dining room was beautiful, large, fabulously appointed with a really lovely gentleman as our waiter. English is not too much of a problem here as the front of house understand and speak it perfectly, with a little help from another diner our waiter understood us well. The food here is divine with perfect wine pairing and really sumptious food and surroundings. My steak was sublime as was husbands huge lamb steak cooked to perfection. We shared a platter of ham and we went to town and had the DX which was so tasty and well worth it at the extra cost. Puddings were absolutely delicious. The wine chosen by the waiter was perfect. This is a serious destination for staying and dining and not overly expensive at all, moreover the attention to detail is the best ever. We were so tired we did not even feel like a drink or two in the wonderful terrace bar, and we went to bed to keep our cat company. Breakfast did not disapoint either, such an array of delicious fayre on offer and the cooked accompaniments were wonderful, my scrambled egg and bacon, so delicious and husbands poached egg, golden and runny perfect. Coffee was delicious and all the cold meats, fruit, cereals, pastries were excellent and believe me I have tried almost all of it and was in heaven. We had a scheduled apt for the hydro spa for an hour and what bliss. I go to many spas and this is really one of the best and to have had it for an hour as booked just for us was a real treat. Absolutely perfect. I really cannot fault this place at all. Everyone is so helpful, kind and considerate, the food excellent, English very good to us who do not speak Spanish.
Please go for a visit and eat and stay and enjoy the spa. It does have sister hotels elsewhere in Spain and we shall definitely make use of them.
I thoroughly recommend for a super duper stay.
Thank you one and all for looking after us so well.

Room Tip: They all are super rooms even the cheaper ones

Stay two separate nights at this hotel, while driving through Spain, Hotel is out the way from the main town, first night we had a dinner at the hotel restaurant, which is very expensive and not worth the money, if you are hungry go to McDonald's which we did on our second night stop over, service in the bar was poor, but is ok for a stop over is clean. Better if there was a Ibis hotel in the town, would of gone there!
