Thank goodness for satnav, or I would never have found the hotel in the narrow one way lanes of Cáceres!
Gran Hotel Don Manuel is a smooth, modern edifice in an ancient UNESCO World Heritage city and well worth visiting. Arrival on site is into the entrance to the underground car park, as there is no nearby on street or other car parking it is necessary to park here, at a reasonable price; I parked to one side of the entrance as there was enough space, hazard lights on and booked in before heading down to park. A man in the car park directed me to the hotel's area as it is shared with a public car park. Access to the hotel is by lift from there.
Inside the hotel is a large, cool Reception area, with an assortment of lounge seating. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room was large and airy with an opening window and a big comfortable bed. Although at the side overlooking the hotel's bar/restaurant terrace it was quiet. The bathroom was spacious and with a good shower. Breakfast, which was included, was plentiful and tasty.
The hotel is not far from Cáceres main square with bars and restaurants, 5-10 minutes walk. Turn right out of the hotel and follow the sign, and map, there are some steps and a lift up to street level.

This hotel is ideally situated to explore the Plaza Mayor and the walled city both only being a 5 minute walk away. The rooms were of a good size and the bed comfortable. We also had breakfast with a huge selection of both sweet and savoury offerings. We used the underground car park which I would suggest is essential as street parking is not plentiful. One word of caution, if you are using Satnav to find the hotel you may find yourself doing an extended circular tour of Caceres. Our Satnav tried to take us up a pedestrianized street thus necessitating two laps of the town centre. Best bet is to drive to the bullring at which point there are yellow direction signs to the car park. While we were checking-in the helpful receptionist (all the staff were, without exception, helpful and polite) was guiding another lost soul to the hotel by telephone!

Dear Harry,

We really appreciate your review about Gran Hotel Don Manuel. Attend guests like you is always a pleasure for our staff.
You are right, some GPS devices don't work propperly on our hotel. That's why we use to send maps to make easier our customer's arrival. It is the only inconvenience of being settled in Cáceres Old Twon.

We hope you will come back to the city, we will be very happy if you choose our hotel to stay again.

Best regards,

Enjoyed 2 nights here. Wonderful rooms. Instead of 2 single beds pushed together there were 2x 3/4. Good for a great nights sleep. Wonderful staff especially Natalia who spoke perfect English! Always a winner. She wrote down my drink (dry white wine) for me so I could keep for the rest of our trip. She booked our magnificent lunch today at Atrio. She also ensured that my husband go his shirt pressed in time for lunch. It really is the little things that matter when traveling. If we ever cam back this way I would definitely stay here again.

Came here as husband was working on a TV series so we were located here. Nice clean hotel and lovely breakfast. The square was a few minutes walking distance which was nice to sit in the afternoon sun and watch the world go by. No fault of the hotel but did feel lonely as husband was at work all day!!

We just stayed last night. When we walked into the room it was terribly hot so we turned on the air conditioning. To no avail as it only poured out more heat. When we inquired at the desk, we were told that only heat is on at this time of the year. Our room faced south and obviously absorbs heat all day.

Our tv didn't work so mentioned that and we went out for a walk. Upon return the door was open and a pleasant staff member was resetting the tv. He also mentioned the heat in the room. So we opened the big windows and left them open most of the night. It took hours for the room to cool down meaning I slept poorly. There was also some street noise and lots of light coming in the room. I liked the room other than the heat and am surprised that a four star hotel doesn't offer air conditioning when the weather is hot and the room boiling!

Dear Sue,

Thank you for choosing us in Cáceres and write your comments about the hotel.
We are very sorry about your problem at the room. During the winter we have the option of heating, since it is cold outside (our rooms use to be always about 18-20º C). Last few days have been a little warmer than usual, and, sometimes, temperature can be higher for some guests. We beg your pardon on this issue.

We hope the rest of the facilites and services have satisfied you and you will come back in the future.

Best regards,
