Unfortunately this was closed on the Monday. We would really have liked to visit, especially as it was pouring with rain. It appeared to be interesting when looking through the windows. Obviously my rating doesn't rate the inside of the craft centre.
I have read the other reviews and have come to the conclusion that my visit was definitely not of the usual standard. My visit was on Friday 9th December. I had selected an item and approached the counter to request another one as I needed a pair, The staff there were in a conversation ( casual not work related) with someone, they continued while I patiently waited until a lady eventually looked in my direction, I made my request and she just replied 'no' and rummaged under the counter. I assumed that as the answer was so brief she was checking stock. She then looked up, saw that I was still standing there and told me rather brusquely that she had already told me that she only had one. I think that customer relations training is needed and have decided that I will not again be travelling 50 miles to visit the Model House. There are other venues to purchase similar items, hopefully with staff who do not make you feel as if they are doing you a favour by serving you. Such a shame as the crafts are very good.
What a hidden gem over three floors housing unusual crafts by talented people. Worth a visit and easy to find. A warm welcome every time.
I always enjoy popping into The Model House spending time browsing the three levels looking at the huge range of art, crafts, glass, ceramics, cards and gifts etc. It's my 'go to' place whenever I'm in need of a 'not on the High Street' card or gift for those special occasions. There's a lovely chilled vibe here and the staff and artists working in individual studios will happily engage in discussions with patrons about the many beautiful things they have to offer or work that can be commissioned. Free entry, limited free parking outside, free car park just a short distance from the venue. No refreshments on-site. Closed Mondays.
Took a couple of American cousins here on a Saturday afternoon. They loved it! These guys have travelled the world a dozen times and found this place fascinating. They learnt about Dr. William Price and a shedful more!
So much to choose from , quality , beautiful , hand made gifts , for all budgets .wished I had done all my shopping here .
