Visited yesturday with family, without booking and managed to get on the next available tour within approx 20mins. as recently new coin collectors a trip to royal mint was most informative to understand the history and process of coin making in the U.K. our tour guide Kirsty (bob) I think she said her name was, had a lot of knowledge to share and was very polite. You start the tour by watching a short video before going into the factory part. The tour itself was interesting and lasted about 45mins, however it could have been even better if you could view the melting and blanking process as you only really see the last past where coins are striked and packed ready for transportation. Although you do see a video of the process and metals used to make coins. And the guide provides lots of information about the early stages of the coins process. There is also an opportunity to strike your own coin in the last part of the tour. You must pay with you tour tickets for this and keep your receipt as proof. We was lucky to have two Isaac Newton 2018 coins for 7.50 and they are worth almost 50pound each on eBay already. Also there is an opportunity to have a photo with a million pound. You have to pay for the photo if you want it £7.50 . No cameras allowed during the tour however After the tour you then enter the museum section which you are free to explore at your own pace and use your cameras to take pictures. Once you finish in the museum section you then exit through the gift shop where you can buy coins and collectables. There is an on-site cafe to. Parking is also free at the royal mint. All staff were very friendly and helpful . I would recommend a visit to the mint, it’s suitable for all ages as our son is 7 years old and really enjoyed it.

The tour was done easily and the tour guide was pleasant. He knew his stuff and tried to make the experience fun. We indulged in the afternoon tea after the tour and it was amazing. Loads of food all well prepared and a nice glass of prosecco. The room was nicely decorated with some nice touches.

My husband has been collecting 50p and £2 coins for a little while. So I thought it would be an ideal day out to visit the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant South Wales.
What a fabulous day out!!!!!! From the time we arrived into a very extensive gift shop, through the tour and exhibition, which were totally engaging and informative, back to the gift shop and right into the cafe. We met nothing but lovely, helpful people for which nothing was too much trouble. Our guide Alison was very informative whilst keeping it light. She even found us in the cafe having a glass of champagne to speak to my husband. The fizz was to top off a really great day out. Thank you everyone. One of the best experiences we have had in a long time.

My girls aged 11 and 12 enjoyed their visit to the Royal Mint.
We booked and paid online which was nice and easy.
The place was easy to find and well sign posted from the M4. Although the instructions on the website we're very clear and easy to follow.
We managed to park in the dedicated car park nice and close to the entrance.
We were greeted at reception and they recognised our names on the bookings immediately. The group entering was a good size of approximately less than 20 people.
The guy talking was very clear and the kids found the facts very interesting, especially as they could relate the information to the coins that they're already using.
If you're visiting the area this is a short trip and could be combined with another trip out.

You need to a book a tour in advance so we picked a late Friday slot - very interesting and even the 2 children (10 & 12) were engaged. A bit of history on the Mint location, what coins are made of and a brief look at the production facility. Never thought that coins could be so interesting - also the coin strike for a 50p unique to the Mint is worth doing. Good shop also

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. A completely different experience to any other and well worth a visit. The tour and exhibition was very informative. It was interesting to see inside the factory where the coins are made. I like that the group tours are limited so you are able to hear the tour guide and see everything clearly. Our lady tour guide was great and very clearly spoken. They also have a small gift shop and cafe if you would like to spend a bit more time here. I would say 2 hours without gift shop and cafe and about 3 hours with although you could spend more time in the exhibition as there's quite a bit to read and see. I would recommend The Royal Mint Tour to everyone.
