“It's everything anyone could want in a holiday cottage!”
Reviewed 30 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

A cosy cottage that is everything it says on the website Lion Cottage, Birchover (it sleeps 6 comfortably - our beds were!), in a quiet village (it's next to the pub which didn't disturb us with noise!) The village has 2 pubs, both serve food so there was a choice of places to eat and drink within walking distance! The cottage had a well equipped kitche,n if you wanted to cook. the is no village shop as such but you aren't too far from a supermarket in Matlock - where we stocked up for our week's stay.
Talking of walking, there are plenty of places for keen walkers. - if you get muddy there is a washing machine and tumble drier to cope with your laundry!
The central heating works well, we visited early May so it was still cool morning and evenings - so we tried it out.
We only stayed for a week, we shopped in the Masson Mills shopping village, went siight seeing and driving round the countryside......there's still more to do so we know where we can stay! We'll go back again!

“A1 Holiday Cottage”
Reviewed 25 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Second visit, lovely cottage, well equiped with lots of room and facilities. New owners have invested in wonderfully comfortable beds too! The Druid Inn, also under new management offers superb beer and food and is a 2 minutes walk away. Superb location for walking, cycling and running and Matlock offers excellent swimming pool close by.
