“Your own little piece of paradise x”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Woodfarm Barns is situated down a little country lane, seemingly miles from anywhere but very accessible to many wonderful places. It's pretty, tranquil and perfect for all ages and all occasions; family groups, romantic weekends, getting away from it all with friends or simply just because you feel like it! I stayed in Alde Barn and upon arrival you're welcomed by Carl who is warm, friendly and the perfect host. The cottage's cute kitchen is the first thing you see through the stable door; very well equiped, perfect for cooking anything from a snack or a three course meal! The breakfast basket was fab; bread, eggs, butter, milk, cookies, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms. How perfect! The shower was lovely, big and powerful; the log burner made the cottage even cosier; the bed was comfy and warm. It's a real home from home and you immediately feel the love of Alde Barn and all it has to offer. The 'Shed' is a great idea;full of dvds, books, games, maps and information, bikes to borrow to explore the pretty country lanes and even clean towels to borrow to wipe your dogs' muddy paws! Carl really encourages visitors to bring their dogs and although I didn't bring mine on this occasion, she'd have loved it! There's even a kitchen herb garden for all the residents to enjoy and a lovely communal sitting area by the pond to sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst your supper cooks. I'll definitely be returning to this lovely place; thank you Carl for creating a wonderful place to stay.

“Perfection in a barn”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Just got come after a long weekend here with my husband and two dogs and cannot give Carl high enough recommendation for how highly amazing this place is. Stunningly decorated, every single thing you could ask for even more has been thought of here. It's so rare to find somewhere so beautiful and immaculate especially not that allows you to bring your dogs and even they get treated when they arrive. Already looking at when we can come again as this is a special find!

“Such a Lovely Place to Stay”
Reviewed 11 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

What can I say about this wonderful converted barn called the Granary Barn it was obliviously converted with lots of hard work and love, because as soon as you walk in it gives you a hug (this is the only way I can describe it) warm, friendly and cosy. We had 5 nights and 4 days at this wonderful place in March, We took our dog Penny with us as all the barn's are dog friendly which is great, I took loads of stuff with me like Kitchen Roll, foil, washing up liq etc but I didn't have to worry everything was there for you which was great, the breakfast basket was amazing fresh eggs, mushrooms, milk, butter, bread and of course FRESH bacon (non of this pre packed stuff) Carl is a wonderful host he is always there within minutes if you need him, but will not intrude on your privacy, Carl is lovely and i felt as if I had known him for ages and this was the fist time I had met him, I could go on about how relaxing this place is but I would bore everyone to tears BUT if you need a weekend away to relax or a few more days to explore the Suffolk/Norfolk coast this is the ideal place to go, We went out every day to walk penny Southwould, Dunwich etc but it was just so good to get a hug when you came back to the Granary and to spend a cosy evening with the ones you love, THANK YOU Carl xxx we are coming back in September Gill, Jim & Penny Sadler

“Perfect Mini-moon Destination!”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 for a stay in November 2013

My new husband and I were looking for a place to spend a short break for our 'mini-moon' after getting married in October 2013. One of our friends had stayed there previously and instantly got us in touch with Carl, who was so helpful and very social media savvy! Nothing was too much trouble.

We stayed in the main barn (Woodfarm) and everything was perfect! The barn was spotless, warm and welcoming. It felt super cosy, but it also was finished to a very high quality. Most noticeably for us, it had loads of plug points for all of our technology!

We were also greeted with the coolest hamper of goodies! Fresh milk, eggs, bread, butter, local cheeses and ham, and some Suffolk-based ales and ciders. Our friend that had recommended the place had also called up and ordered us a bottle of bubbly, which Carl was more than happy to oblige with, so we were able to finally have some peace and quiet, just by ourselves in our wonderful little hidey-hole for the next three days.

During the stay, Carl popped by (I made him a cuppa and we had a good old chinwag!) to check everything was ok, but otherwise remained quietly available for us if we needed anything. We took advantage of some of the recommendations in the info book in the barn, and drove around the countryside and visited both Colchester and Ipswich while we were there. There is also a small business park just round the corner from the turning onto the properties which has the most amazing 'junk yard' shop that you could ask for - I could've spent hours in there!
I can imagine it to be amazingly idyllic in the summer months and the whole plot of land has been well though-out. Carl is very proud of what he has created (and rightfully so!), and the barn came complete with a beautifully insightful book detailing how it had been lovingly and carefully restored and renovated.

Woodfarm Barns would be somewhere I would recommend to anyone looking for a retreat, or a short, or long break. Suffolk is a county I haven't visited before and I really do want to go back. And another great point is that it takes dogs! So I've told all of my friends who have dog-children to take advantage of their dog-friendly policies. It really is a great locale for walking! Or just relaxing!

Liked best: The welcome hamper! And Car!
Liked least: Could only have been improved by a slightly sturdier bed frame & mattress.

“Everything we could have wanted”

We wanted a break to coincide with our daughter's holiday, which meant it wasn't going to be the usual start dates. Carl was fab and was able to work with us to get the right dates which was a great start to our holiday. We took Gipping Barn and eagerly looked forward to arriving.

Carl met us on arrival and took us to the barn and then gave us a brief guide of how to use the facilities (including the underfloor heating which was a real bonus in February)

The barn itself was scrupulously clean, with a welcome basket of eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, fruit, and locally sourced bread. The fridge contained milk, butter and some delicious smoked bacon.

Cosy evenings were spent around the woodburner (once I'd got its measure) while we watch the Winter Olympics on TV. The bed was comfy and warm, and it was a pleasure to hear the dawn chorus above our heads in the mornings.

The bathroom was clean and well set out. The shower was roomy with a plentiful supply of water and pressure!

Carl had provided some useful guide books which were comprehensive and current.

Rainy days would have been well catered for with a massive number of DVDs available in The Shed, together with plenty of bikes and guidebooks (including Daisy the tandem)

I'd definitely recommend Woodfarm Barns.
