Thought we'd try this pub for lunch after passing it on our trip out. The man at the bar showed us to a table in the conservatory. It was nice to have the view over looking the fields. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful and a good number of dishes on the menu with more to choose on the specials board. I had the cottage pie and veg and my husband had the fish and chips. we both enjoyed our meals and had desert one ice cream and one banoffee cheesecake. Nice ale to drink and over all ok prices. There's a good amount of tables outside. Saw a dog with people on an outside table so I guess they allow that. The car park is also large enough to get parked.

Made a last minute booking at the Anchor. Was seated in the conservatory part of the pub very nice and bright with views across fields. We both ordered starters prawn cocktail and potato skins with choice of dips and mains pork chop and the Salmon meal l had a choice of veg or salad and a choice of potatoes l chose the jacket and salad really nice and very filling, we could not manage a desert. Food was very nice, but Our only complaint was we waited a long time for our main course after finishing our starters, we don't mind a bit of a wait but not half hour wait. The Staff all seem very polite apart from one girl serving she didn't seem very happy she knocked something over on our table when picking something up then just looked at it then walked away with an attitude no sorry or anything.. the two knock backs didn't put us off We will definitely go back again and try something different on the menu as there's a lot of choice and a specials board as well.

We stopped for a mid-day meal for 4 people. Nice varied menu to suit all tastes. As we waited for the pub to open at 12.00 o'clock were one of the first to go in - although we ordered quickly there was still quite wait our food to come out - could be better. The food was very tasty with good size portions and the prices were reasonable, A round of drinks, main meals and 3 ice creams for desert was £66.60 - not bad at all. The staff were friendly and helpful, On today experience we would visit again when in the area.

I have been visiting this pub for 42 years, and had some very good meals here. My wife went last week for her mums birthday and had a great meal, but there was a mix up with the bill, and the attitude she received was utterly shocking. She was blamed for their mistakes and had a stand up row in the crowded bar before he (reluctantly) climbed down from his high horse - all over 6 quid
Beware of the staff attitude,

We visited on Saturday for dinner with family. We have been here a few times for drinks but decided to book for dinner

The pub is great, traditional and looks very pretty from the outside. Attentive staff despite being busy.
The food really wasn’t up too much, it didn’t taste or look freshly prepared. The ribs were huge but no sauce and we struggled to get them off the bone. Tasteless fight so ended up leaving them half eaten despite being hungry.

The fish was over cooked, grey and bland. The dark brown new potatoes on the side looked hard as marbles and tasted awful.

The lasagne lacked any real sauce, not a tomato in sight and no seasoning but a thick layer of cheese to mask to the top.

We mentioned to the staff our findings and they said the would take it on board.
Such a shame and with a bill of over £130 it was poor quality all round.

We didn’t stay for dessert or coffee and left deflated. We won’t be visiting again
