“Peaceful, Relaxing but with lots to do Close By”
Reviewed 31 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a lovely stay in the Byre and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet. The cottage had everything we needed for the 3 nights we stayed; it was well equipped, clean, warm and cosy. I have not slept so well in a long time.... not sure if it was the exceptionally comfy pillows, the darkness, the quiet or all three!!!

There is a long bumpy dirt track you have to drive down to reach the cottage which would benefit from a bit of maintenance but don't let this put you off as it was worth the drive once you arrive. You pass a couple of houses on the way but the cottage is really quite isolated with only 2 more buildings in the same court yard where the owners live.
The main reason for booking this was for the isolated location and dark skies as my husband is interested in astronomy. We usually would try and find a cottage away from any houses and was a little worried about this one being so close to the owners but it was nice knowing they were close by if needed especially as once we had settled in they didn't bother us again at all until we left.

On arrival we were greeted by Stephen who was really friendly and helpful. Like my husband he was also interested in astronomy and was happy to offer advice on best viewing places etc.
Stephen and Wendy were aware of my husbands interest in astronomy before we confirmed our booking and I am not sure if this was a coincidence or not but they had left a couple of astronomy mags for him to look at .... what a lovely thoughtful touch. Once settled in we began to notice lots of other little personal touches......there were bottles of water next to the bed, fresh flowers and a welcome tray with home made jams, cake etc.

We were really lucky as the weather had forecast rain for the whole stay, with hurricane Katie in the middle! But 2 of the 3 nights were dry and clear (although cold) and despite the 2 building next to the cottage it was still very dark (the adjoining cottage could have done with a curtain up at the door to block out the TV and light.... but this wasn't a major problem) and we were able to see plenty of stars! Much better than we get at home.

By day there's also plenty to do especially if you like driving / walking. We didn't go out in the evening being quite far away from anywhere but this suited us and we were happy to have some nice meals in then settle down with a bottle of wine and a good film..... and a bit of star gazing in between!

I am sure we will go back.

“Peace and tranquility; a home from home”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in May 2015

What a magnificent surprise this place turned out to be. I stopped at the Byre for a week whilst working in the area, and it really was home from home. The place itself is extremely clean, thoroughly equipped and wonderfully comfortable, with the welcome tray of homemade goodies being just what I wanted after a long trip. Not only had the owners (Wendy and Stephen) thought of me, but they had even included some homemade treats for my dogs. Luckily work didn’t take up the whole week and I was able to take advantage of the numerous walks in the surrounding area and also around the property. My dogs thoroughly enjoyed the agility course that had been set out and soon made friends with the owners’ (very well behaved) dogs. Wendy and Stephen were helpful throughout my stay, suggesting activities to allow me to make the most out of my time there. The cottage is at the end of a long lane, which just adds to the feeling of peace and tranquility that you get when you arrive here. If I’m ever in the area again, for business or pleasure, I shall definitely be returning to the Byre.

“Beautiful setting - well worth a visit!”
Reviewed 13 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We arrived at this wonderful barn conversion set in its own grounds of fields and woodland a little stressed, as it was further down a narrow, winding track than we had expected, to be greeted by its very friendly owner Steve and his family. There was a warm welcome as well as a range of homemade goodies made by Wendy, and also a bottle of wine. The barn was extremely clean and well equipped.
Our spaniel loved the setting and was made especially welcome by the owners. There was a stream running through the grounds where he loved to swim at the end of our daily walks in the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside. Unfortunately he wasn't really up for the agility training - but what a great facility for those of you with more active dogs. the owner's dogs were all extremely friendly, especially Jimmy!
We had better than expected weather and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well worth a visit.

“A magical place in an oasis of calm”
Reviewed 3 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A surprise welcome tray for us and the dog awaited us after a long journey. This beautiful Byre is tucked away in the most magical of settings, surrounded by fields and woodland and a stream. The owners couldn't have been kinder letting us and our Spaniel walk their land, use their agility equipment and training area. The Byre is much larger than in the images and is equipped with everything you could want for a relaxing holiday (including a washing machine)! If you love the quiet life with no street lights (as we do this is the place for you). An ideal base from which to explore the Preseli hills and surrounding Welsh village, therefore a car is a must. Thank you Wendy and Stephen.
