I played in the Lahinch Scratch Cup on Saturday the views were amazing and the course was a real challege not for the faint hearted...You don't want to get into the rough cause you might never get back out again...

To begin with, having a golf course in the center of town with views of the sea and environs is very appealing. Add to it devilish bunkers, huge fairway mounds, some blind shots, goats, and subtle breaks on the greens, and you have the makings of a memorable golf experience. For an older golfer like me (66), it's a challenging walk carrying a bag and playing 36 holes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Put the driver way, draw the ball, and hang on. Hiring a caddie for the first round is a good investment. A great course!

I'm a bit partial, because this was the last round of gold I played with my then 83 year old father. It's a beautiful wind swept coastal links course that dates to 1895. If you are in the west of Ireland and playing golf it's a "must play" round. A hook shot away from the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and other incredible sites, there's plenty to keep the rest of the family busy while you're playing!
