Average - tables very squashed - tables could have been cleared quicker and should have been cleared before directing guests to sit down

Very much a split review. Staff drag it up a star, they were great. Food was a decent value at €11 a plate but not sure that was good value since it was fairly bland fodder.
We dropped in to Pavarotti's Pizza n Pasta Athlone on Easter Sunday. Parked for free (free on Sundays) just across the road and right next to Athlone castle and the Viking boat trips. We were seated very quickly by our lovely young welcoming waitress who offered us a cozy table for two right by the window. The menu boasts a healthy combination of pizza, pasta, steak and fish dishes amongst a variety of sides, desserts and drinks. My eye caught the chicken pasta (a choice of either penne, spaghetti or tagliatelli) in creamy tomato while my wife opted for the Pavarotti meat balls in a deep rich tomato sauce. We added a shared side of potatoes gratin. Healthy sized portions of each arrived along with parmesan and black pepper. It was obvious the chef knows his business, beautifully put together dishes, delicious and tasty. If I were to add any criticism at all it would be that each of the dishes needed a little more seasoning in the cooking as it is not quite the same to add this later ... this the smallest of criticisms. We cleared our plates and finished with a gorgeous cappucino. Now here's the thing, all the pasta and pizza dishes were priced at only 10 euro ... we were just recently in Rome and would have paid twice this for the same dish barely of the same quality. A big thank you to our waitress again who guided us to some of the local places of interest before we left.
The food was tasteless, both my friend and I had to add loads of salt just to make it tolerable, couldn't finish it although hungry. My best advice, Don't go there.
Positives, friendly staff
Had a meal with friends in Pavarotti, a place that came highly recommended by locals.
To be honest we were a little disappointed. We both had a very, very mediocre pasta dishes, loads of sauce but pretty meagre in terms of both meat and pasta. It wasn't bad but was utterly, utterly middle of the road.
The prices are really decent to be fair and so is the service. It's a really friendly place. Strong smell of grease though which was a bit off-putting.
I wouldn't dissuade anyone from visiting as it has a good reputation and maybe we caught it on an off night. But I can only review it as we found it to be fair.
