“5-star hotel standard”
Reviewed 28 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our family holiday in West Cork was very much enhanced by staying at The Artist's Cottage. Julie has thought of every last detail. The quality of the furnishings and bedlinen etc... are 5 star standard. We enjoyed the holiday so much that we booked it the following week for next year. We are a family of 6, the oldest is 9 year old and the youngest is 9 months. If you enjoy plenty of outdoor activities, good food and high standards of accommodation then we recommend The Artist's Cottage.

“Happy to recommend”

Spent a week here in early July 14. Gorgeous weather and a glorious location on the Sheep's head peninsula. You can't beat West Cork in good weather for scenery, relaxation , fun and very good food. This house is in a lovely location with great views in a quiet part of the peninsula and we went with an extended family group of 5 adults and 5 kids so hired both the Cottage and studio. Both were beautifully appointed and very comfortable and our kids had a lovely time running between both and the swimming pool. The weather was so good that the kids were in the pool every day - though not big nor heated it was more than adequate to keep 5 kids busy and was an unexpected boon!
Both the cottage and studio have been subject to much thought and love with little expense spared in fitting them out very tastefully. They have everything that you would need tho if hiring the studio on its own you might find the kitchen a little small.
We spent lovely days on lazy cycles and walks and not a few trips to some very friendly small pubs. We were delighted with the cottage/studio, had a lovely holiday, recommend West Cork as a destination and are already planning a return

Many thanks for your fantastic comments. We are so glad to hear how much you enjoyed West Cork and the Sheep's Head - seems you see the same magic in the place as we do.

Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you again for choosing our place and to say a few things for the benefit of travellers interested in doing the same:

The Studio is a separate self-contained unit next to the Cottage and was converted from an old stone hayloft. It is about half the size of the Cottage and has an open-plan ground floor with kitchen/lounge area and adjacent sun room with en suite shower. A bit of a quirky space so we were a little compromised when planning the kitchen layout. It is equipped with fridge, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, sink unit and cupboard space but counter and floor space is limited. If you like to cook up a storm, we recommend the Cottage next door which has a full eat-in kitchen with Rayburn range. The Studio is handy when combined with the Cottage for larger groups and also suits couples and those with one child or two older children. Please contact us to check the suitability for your group in terms of layout and sleeping arrangements.

The pool is located just in front of the Studio and is approximately 25 feet square and 3-5ft deep from shallow to deep end. It works on a chlorine-free filter of our own well water and is heated by solar panels hidden across the road. It does need a prolonged sunny spell to really warm up nicely and can be 'bracing' if the weather is changeable!

You literally could not ask for a better house...absolutely every need catered for.The views form the house were heaven..Sitting in the sunroom just gazing out the window, was instant relaxation.Definitely will have to return at a warmer time of the year to soak in the pool....thoughtabout a Christmas morning dip,but chickened out!!
Julie was fantastic, with perfect directions, lists of amenities anything you could ask for, info was supplied.
I would highly recommend Laharandota to everyone.

Accommodation of the highest quality, hidden away on the Sheep's Head peninsula, Laharandota really did offer a perfect break. And even if the weather hadn't been magnificent, we would have felt completely at home.
Spectacular setting, immaculate cottage. Thoroughly recommendable.

“Dream cottages by the sea”

Following a wedding in Dublin, the groom and bride's families selected Laharandota for a well earned break. With 9 guests in total, the two cottages were ample for sleep, peace and privacy.

The location is remote, as are most things in this part of the world, but not isolated. The countryside is spectacular and unspoilt, virtually every building in the region has been renovated, from makeovers to major refurbs and it's rare to see a poorly kept property or anything tatty.

Laharandota sits at the top of the class for renovation, done about 4 years ago. It has been given a fresh exterior this year and the two dwellings plus various outbuildings are immaculate - the pinnacle of good taste, fine furnishings and luxury fittings. It is like walking in to a country home magazine article where the owner threw the budget out with the bathwater and said, "What the heck, I like it, just buy it!".

There is so much stuff in these two cottages it is very hard to imagine you might want for something that isn't already there, and it will be the best on the market. No clutter, just beautiful beds, linens, tables, chairs, doors, hinges (I'm not kidding), porcelain, lamps. Everything.

The pool was such a draw. Sparkling clean water using UV sterilization and a solar heating system. Swimming at midnight looking up at the Milky Way and shooting stars, will stay with me forever.

Great local pubs and easy drives in to the local towns and sight-seeing locations plus walks and cycle routes on your doorstep. We had warm and sunny conditions every day and really enjoyed coming back for a big family meal done on the Rayburn or BBQ. Great memories and a desire to come back and stay longer.
