Nice family walk on a sunny day, excellent views at the top and great for a picnic

Ground is fairly uneven so hiking boots would be best but so worth the walk

The Bray Head loop walk is about 5.5k and will take between 1.5 and 2 hours depending on how long is spent enjoying the stunning views of the local cliffs, surrounding mountains, Portmagee harbour and inlet and of course the majestic Skellig Islands. A short drive from Portmagee and with a pay and display car park, this is a great way for a short moderate walk (total height gain approx 200 metres) with stunning views.

This walk took us over an hour, rather than the 45 minutes some suggested, but it was pleasant and not difficult. Not much elevation gain. Beautiful views out to Skellig Michael, lovely wildflowers, and bucolic scenery complete with sheep and cows along the way.

We didn't do the whole loop but walked up the 2km path to the head and back the same way. Going there is all uphill but coming back is so much easier. The views along the way and from the headland are fantastic.

An easy, well marked loop. Highly rewardings with views of Puffin Island, The Skelligs and prolific bird life.
