Pity the small swimming pool was full with a scheduled aqua aerobics class (for what I assume to be local ladies paying for independent use of the pool) when I arrived for a swim with my 15, 11 and 8 year old children at 10.15am. I was informed that a (small) lane was cordoned off for guest use but this was already occupied by a family, and in any event was too small. We could have saved ourselves the costume, hat and goggle pack-up had the hotel advised that the pool was not available for use by us at that time. Disappointing for children particularly!
When I addressed this with the manager he refused to acknowledge the inconvenience. He reminded me that I was booked in on the competitive pre-paid room rate. Since I had prepaid I felt compromised when complaining about hotel service and will not avail of this online booking service again.
The two double rooms we stayed in were basic and in the old part of the hotel. It would have been nice to have been easily able to open a window in the unventilated bathroom after shower use.
I'll return to The Mustard Seed next time instead.....pity as I had my wedding reception at The Dunraven...️More
