This was our 8th trip to Ireland and Glendine House is one of the best places we’ve stayed. It is the perfect place for those seeking good food, a great location, and an excellent night sleep. The breakfast menu is extensive, with of course the traditional Irish available, but choices such as salmon, fruit platters, and other delicious selections were amazing. Fresh bread, muffins, scones, and other bakery goods were much appreciated on arrival, with breakfast, and after a good day’s hike. Glendine’s location allowed us to easily walk to Clonakilty, although Mick is always quick to offer transportation to and from town. Cork, Cobh, the Beara, and even Killarney are all easily accessed. There are abundant ruins nearby, some within easy walking distance. The area is also rich with political history. As for bedrooms, ours was incredibly quiet, the large bed was undoubtedly the most comfortable we’ve ever experienced in Europe, and the hot shower could not have been better.

While we love seeing the country, for us the most meaningful experiences come from the connections with people. The owners of Glendine house, Mari and Mick, are two of the best! They are a wealth of information on the history of the area. They epitomize Irish hospitality and Irish humor and are brilliant together! Just asking them for directions became a great source of laughter. Staying with Mari and Mick was one of the highlights of our 3-week trip.

Glendine is a wonderful B&B! The owners Mari and Mick are real characters. They are chatty, friendly and welcoming. Mick gave us tea and warm muffins when we arrived and sat with us and talked us through everything to do in the area. Breakfast was delicious and made with quality local ingredients. The location is about a 10 minute walk out of town, and it's uphill on the way back. But don't let that put you off as the views from the B&B are stunning. The room and the bed were large and clean and very homely. Overall a fab B&B!

I have to admit this was the best B&B we stayed at during our 17 day trip. Mick and Marie were the best people we met in Ireland. The breakfast were great the rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable and the craic marvelous. I got to feeling under the weather while I was there and Marie called the clinic and got me right in to see the doctor. Mick took us down to the pub every night and picked us up when we were done. The advice on where to eat were spot on and we really enjoyed our stay. You can't go wrong spending a few days with this family, nothing is too much trouble. When I go back to Ireland I'm sure this will be one of our stops. Go see Mick and Marie they treat you like royality. Joe and Sandi

If you are looking for a place to stay in West Cork (Clonakilty) then the Glendine is the place to stay. The hosts Mari and Mike are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. You are met with open arms and made to feel like part of the family from the second you arrive to the second you leave. Mike gave us a verbal tour of Clonakilty and surrounding areas over Mari's wonderful Rhubard Muffins (fresh from the oven) and made sure we knew where everything was. We were also offered a lift to town at any time and at now extra cost which was absolutely great. During our stay Mike also offered to take me and my wife on a guided motorbike tour on his treasured Honda (Rosebud). My wife took him up on this offer and had the time of her life. Mike stopped and took photos which he then forwarded onto us.

Overall this B&B is simply the best we have ever stayed in. If you are down Clonakilty way and need a place to stay then don't consider anywhere else but the Glendine. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Mari & Mike - Thanks for a wonderful stay

Stayed here for 2 nights for the Clonakilty festival. We were greeted by Mick with fresh muffins, still warm out of the oven. Rooms were lovely and spotlessly clean. Mari and Mick couldn't have been nicer, even giving us a spin each night to the pub, even though it was only a few minutes walk down the road. Breakfasts were delicious and great for getting over hangovers. Would definitely stay here again.
