First visit this week to Mountain House Restaurant in Ardfield. Lovely little restaurant. Nice decor and very clean. Taken over by a French Chef in recent times. Interesting menu and different to the usual fare. A very pleasing veal on the bone, with pork croquettes on a veg puree, asparagus, and gratin potatoes was quite delicious. And my Husband had a very tasty Indian flavoured fish curry. And the desert appeared quite french. Simply delicious. Front of house Lady excellent, warm, friendly, and very accomodating. Great with the Customers. A nice touch was the Chef himself calling to each table and having a few words. I noticed a table nedt to me appeared regulars already, and waitress remembering what way he liked his steak cooked from previous visit. And that is always good. It appears they can be very busy and it is advisable to book in advance, especially at weekends. They have a Wedding booked, which is lovely to see smaller venues catering for these Special occassions. Am looking forward to dining here again soon.

What an absolutely perfect meal. We went on a sunny Thursday afternoon. From the friendly welcome and service to the excellent food I couldn’t recommend it more. It was also very reasonably priced

Called to the Mountain House steak and seafood restaurant last night with another couple. Got a great welcome and our prebooked table was ready and waiting for us.

Variety on menu of starters and main courses was very impressive, to suit all pallets. Reasonably prices and delicious choices all round on our table, the crab and prawn cakes and blackpudding couchette were a delight.

The mains of fish duo x 2, seafood on the Syrian flatbread and Blue steak were outstanding, the chef came to our table to congratulate the member of our party who ordered the Blue steak! A nice touch!

We followed-up with a selection of desserts which were all beautiful.

The food was fabulous and the service of the three attentive waiting staff matched!

I look forward to our next trip!

To do a burger right is no simple feat ! Mountain excelled - brioche bun, 8oz patties, handout chips fried in beef dripping, classic dressing of melted cheese, tomatoe, crisp lettuce and onion - just perfect !. Dessert was a moist cake version of a tiramisu with a local twist and was delicious. Well done lads, newly opened - you will have the crowds beating a path to your door - keep it up. Lovely pub with good food - unbeatable. Make a detour.

Have been a very few times since it opened and it’s great. The food is top class and the chef puts a lot of effort into each dish and presentation of is really eye catching.
The black pudding fritters were almost too good to eat, followed by a mount watering rib eye steak: cooked perfectly. The Fish and Chips were almost fab.
The staff are really welcoming and give top class service, with a smile.
The Mountain House has always been a lovely pub and now with the restaurant it’s a most to visit. And on the Wild Atlantic Way!!!
