Stayed here at the end of September and used it as a base for travelling in to Dublin, the local DART station is a five minute walk away and it takes about twenty fives minutes to get in to Dublin Connolly train station.

I've previously stayed at the hotel as I like the charm and character of the place.

I must admit I was disappointed with my most recent stay. The corridor that led to my room had a strange odour.

My room was old fashioned but that was expected.

I was allocated room 129 and the view was appallingly bad, see attached photo. I have previously had a room with a sea view which was very pleasant.

The hotel still has an issue with the charges for wifi 10 euros for 24hrs, 5 euros for 3 hours or 30 minutes free. I would advise that you walk a small distance and how to Duffy's Bar where it is free and has a good atmosphere. http://www.duffys.ie

The breakfast at the hotel was good, with views of Malahide Bay, slightly disappointed with the evening meal.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but my visit left me feeling disappointed.

Next time I'm in Malahide I think I will try somewhere else for a stay.

My request for quiet room meant waiting 45 minutes to an hour so we let the front desk person talk us into a "view room" instead - bad decision on our part because it was warm at the end of May - no air conditioning so needed open window but could not part the shades at all because the spotlights on the front facade shone right in, very bright! Made for a very uncomfortable night - also with window cracked the noise from street was non-stop motorcycles, trucks, you name it.
Recommend you find another hotel that does not have such an investment in its looks - one that cares more about the comfort of its guests than its profile and reputation for elegance, NOT!

I went for lunch on Wednesday and was very impressed with the excellent food and service. Both male and then female staff asked if all was ok and greeted my aunt by name as she is a regular here. This was much appreciated. I found reception staff helpful when I needed to use internet and printer. All in all a very enjoyable experience unlike the following day at sister hotel in Sutton which was awful. Thank you Grand. Keep up the high standards.

Hotel is really only good for sleeping in and it's location. Service is ok unless large groups or conventions are staying in which case it becomes non-existent. Food is very poor quality and not cheap. Was served probably the worst fish and chips I'd ever NOT eaten and for the princely sum of EUR 14, they did take it off the bill and offer an alternative (don't know if this was still chargeable) but that was all. Don't feel cheated but not inclined too eat in the hotel again. Breakfast is ok, but have been served with bacon of which I wasn't sure whether to eat it or repair my shoes with it. Don't ask for poached eggs, kippers etc if you have something planned for later in the morning, you will only be disappointed. Coast restaurant may well be very good but have never been able to eat in there as always booked out, I can only assume that they use a different chef.
Having said that rooms are ok if you get a sea view, gym and pool facilities are very good. Location is fantastic and there are many more, cheaper and much better restaurants nearby. Price is not extortionate either. Internet is expensive and very slow.

Room tip: Sea view rooms are good but WiFi reception on that side of the hotel is not so good

This was our first stop on our vacation in Ireland. The hotel was very nice. Our standard room was small. Our view looked out onto a blank wall. The bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfy. I was traveling with a group of ten women, two to a room. We only stayed here one night. Our group met in a parlor in the evening and had tea and scones. They were fantastic, the best we had on our trip. The scones were served with clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam. Our breakfast was not memorable because for the life of me I cannot remember it. I would stay here again.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view.
