Kenmare is a small, easy-to-navigate town close to the Ring of Kerry, the Beara Peninsula, and Kilarney National Park (and Muckross House). Stay here and avoid the touristy atmosphere and crowds of Kilarney town. We especially enjoyed the Water's Edge B&B just outside Kenmare. The hostess is delightful and the facilities bright, cheery, clean, and comfortable. Did I mention reasonably priced? Especially nice here is the breakfast - with healthier options than most we found. Perched along the water, but in the trees, it's a beautiful, quiet location. We found a super bakery in Kenmare, for picking up picnic lunch items. The business district in Kenmare is small and convenient, and without the difficult parking found in many towns in Ireland.
