I use Swinton Park to recharge my batteries ~ just the odd night every now and again. I go on my own and never feel out of place or awkward. The food is divine, the surroundings just perfect. The staff friendly and professional. The Birds of Prey flying demonstration is a good pre-breakfast activity.

The landscape was superb but the rooms had a heating problems. Our room was above the kitchen and the pronbem is known and they do NOT do anything against it.
The number of TV channels is VERY limited.
At least the food was good

Room Tip: NOT above the kitchen

Dear Henry

Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay at Swinton Park and I understand that during your stay the room was hotter than we would prefer. This was due to the small but hot period of nice weather in May 2012, and as the house is a Grade 2 listed building we cannot put modern a/c units into each room to solve the un-naturally hot heat during that weekend. We do remember your stay with us and I was pleased to note that we did offer fans for the room and changed your duvet to sheets which I hope helped. Finally to show our concern for your stay we did also wish to move you to the best suite in the house, which you may have forgotten, but you decided you would prefer to stay in your orignal room, so I can only apologise for you not allowing us to help you enjoy your experience further. I appreciate your point about the tv channels and presently we do have 13 channels with a view to increase this shortly. It was lovely to read that you enjoyed our award winning restaurant that prides itself on sourcing local produce from our 'local hero' suppliers list and from our own 20,000 acre estate which includes a 4-walled acre garden offering 60 different fruit, vegetables and herbs which goes straight into our kitchens to use. Thank you for your review and I hope you will give us the opportunity of welcoming you back to Swinton Park in the near future.

We have stayed at Swinton Park 3 times now, most recently this April. From the moment you arrive you know this hotel is very special. The staff are efficient and helpful but always relaxed and friendly, and the restaurant staff are very well trained and knowledgeable. The building itself is simply beautiful, with so many fascinating architectural features. We have stayed in three different rooms (Bradford, Fountains Abbey and Burton Agnes) and all were excellent, each with its own individual character. We particularly liked Bradford and Burton Agnes, which are corner rooms with lovely views over the grounds and the river. Everything is provided for, from Molton Brown toiletries in the beatiful bathrooms to a small decanter of gin and whisky. (A gin and tonic whilst soaking in the bath is a wonderful way to start your evening here). The little jacuzzi-spa can be pre-booked for your private use for an hour, at no extra cost and we found this a lovely way to unwind after our journey or a day out. Spa treatments are also very good and even my husband thoroughly enjoyed his hot and cold stone massage. The restaurant is, for us, a major part of any stay at Swinton Park. The food is an absolute delight and the staff cannot be faulted. From pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room, the meal itself and coffee and petit-fours back in the drawing room, it is a wonderful experience. Of course a hotel like this does not come cheap, but there are often special offers which can make a stay very good value indeed. We shall be back next time we have something to celebrate!

Room Tip: Take a look on the website and you will see photos of all the rooms with a description. They are all very different, but the corner rooms are especially lovely.

We stayed at Swinton Park for two nights in May 2012. Simply the best hotel i have ever stayed in for so many reasons. Primarily the staff who are faultless and the relaxed luxury of the hotel. Already booked to go back for our 25th Anniversary. Although the prices are high i think they do represent good value for money. The food is exquisite and the quality of rooms and special touches are worth every penny. I cant wait to go back. Truly not one thing i would change.

From the manager of the spa rearranging things so we could have some treatments on our day of arrival to the quality of the food, everything was perfect. We were in a Baron room "whitby" and it was an excellent size with a high quality bathroom. Loved the little touches such as the room tidied and the bed turned down on a night to the complimentary gin and whisky.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in we will be back!
