We noticed that An Boesti laid claim to two rosettes. But the experience was flat uninspiring and expensive. The room the furniture the presentation, the food and the service are all uninspiring. Certainly not worth the drive out of Plymouth or the price. There is a slightly cheaper brasserie type option but still lacking in buzz or attraction. If you find yourself staying in the golf hotel you may wish to do a bit of research into outside eating options such as the two exceptional restaurants in Callington and Liskeard or the pub at Tideford.

An Boesti purports to offer fine food but it is not fine dining as I know it. The food is average but served as if it were special. The ambiance also leaves a lot to be desired as it is a square room in a modern hotel. Not a place to return to.

Food was average, service was average and very slow. Far too expensive for the quality of the experience

This was the latest of several previous visits over a number of years to the restaurant in the St Mellion Golf resort. The restaurant is very open, spacious and the tables well dressed and nicely spaced. There is an immediate ambience on entering and the staff are extremely welcoming and willing. I have written a poor review about the resort itself but this restaurant is very good indeed, with its own chef and staff. This is important because food in the other eatery entitled the brasserie is, at best, OK.

The food is clearly a passion here and is exceptionally well prepared, presented and tasty. The menu is quite limited but that was ok for us. The wines are a good choice and we weren't disappointed with those chosen to feature. Well selected.

At about £65 a head including wine this is not cheap but for the quality being offered is reasonable.

We didn't get to meet the chef but would have thanked him/her for a most memorable and flavoursome evening. Well done team.

We would eat here again...happy days
