“The Most Wonderful Christmas Ever”

If there was a 10 star rating this house and it's owners would get it. We were greeted so warmly by Damien. The fire was on in the lounge, champagne in the fridge and other supplies, huge tin of biscuits and sweets and my favourite of all Moulton Brown in every bathroom. The house is decorated so tastefully and comfortably and very well equipped. Every room had fresh flowers and the Christmas decorations were simply lovely. Derwent House has a lovely ambiance and warm home away from home feeling, with plenty of room for 11 of us. The kitchen was a hive of activity with any one who cooked able to have company at the same time too. With two bedrooms having a TV in if the youngsters wanted to play their games or watch a different film it was great. Matlock town is a 5 minute walk from the house and you just have to go to Bakewell and have a real Bakewell Pudding (I brought six back for the office!!). We ate at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn, a bit of a trek but if you are out for the day well worth a visit, but be warned the portions are huge!! We also ate at the Wetherspoons in the town which was alright for a quick cheap meal out, they had some really nice ales on Thornbridge Jaipur is one not to miss. Some of the family went on walks to Matlock Bath and up on the cliffs above Matlock Bath. Otyhers went to the museum in Matlock Bath. The rest of the time was enjoyed relaxing in our wonderful home away from home having a most wonderful Christmas and we would definately come back here again. Thank you Derwent House you made our Christmas.

A superb second year at this house. For our party of 12 it is ideal with everything you need to make the occasion a total relaxation. If we had any complaint it would be that we can't stay for longer!!!
A great house with everything you need for a really good time. Highly recommended.

Derwent house was booked via a very good website showing lovely accurate pictures of the acommodation. My husband wanted a family gathering to celebrate his 60th birthday so we had octogenarians and our grandson of 3years and everyone else in between. The house was beautiful and immaculate, with flowers in every room and personal touches second to none ;eg molten brown cosmetics at every sink. The furniture and fittings were excellent quality and the beds superb. The kitchen had everything you need for catering for 12. It's a superb property and in the right circumstances we would return poste haste. I thoroughly reccommend this stay to anyone. Even the quiet location was ideal for a mixed age group and offered a host of local places to visit. The owners were very helpful and were very attentive to every detail.

“Fantastic house in a fantatsic setting”
Reviewed 8 October 2011 for a stay in October 2011

Derwent House is a lovely period property rammed with interesting and quirky furniture and ornaments. You can really tell that the owners have put a lot of time and effort into getting the house just right for their guests. All the rooms were nicely appointed and had everything in them that we needed. The house was really comfy with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms/ensuites. There was loads of space for us (12 in total) to spread out in the house and yet still feel together and cosy. It was a great venue for a friends reunion! The location is perfect for wandering around Matlock and the house overlooked a lovely park and stream. While being nearly in the heart of Matlock it did not feel like being in the town centre and there was no town noise. We had a really good stay and would firmly recommend the house to our friends and anyone else.

“What a brillant house, everything I could have wanted was there!”
Reviewed 29 September 2011 for a stay in September 2011

Met in Derbyshire for a family get together. The location of Derwent House was great when travelling from different parts of the UK. Ifwas a great venue to explore the Peak District, some wanted to walk whereas the others hit the shops! The house was individually decorated and has a lot of fine touches. The owners had thought of everything, with so much space, all 12 of us were able to enjoy each other's company without feeling crowded. All in all a wonderful place to stay. And the excellent wifi access was a real bonus for teenagers and adults alike!
