We had an evening meal but were disappointed. I had scampi, chips with a salad. Scampi was small pieces ( about 10 ) from a frozen packet. For £11.95 I expected larger pieces and fresh breadcrumb coating. My husband just had a starter of scallops, which he said were slightly undercooked.

Room Tip: We did not stay at the hotel

I stayed overnight on a Saturday & found my welcome to be warm & my room clean & cosy. Breakfast was very good quality & reasonably priced & the staff were very helpful & friendly. Will definitely visit again.

We struggled to get a table for 4 at short notice on a busy Saturday night when everyone seemed to be filling the pubs after dry January .

The Roebuck was able to fit us in and it was a very reasonable meal with a few choice ales .

Nacho starters ( v hot ) and a burger and a couple of pints was very enjoyable .

Top tip if you are 6ft or over - watch your head at the bar ...

A family lunch turned into a real event with great staff, superb food and a lovely log fire. The staff paid every attention to detail and even modified the meals for us.
It looks slightly austere standing on its own on a main road but it is a gem. I strongly recommend it!

From the outside the Roebuck Inn has Stax of appeal, however this is greatly let down once you have passed through the bar and entered the living quarters. The stairs leading to the bedrooms have a strange smell and the appearance is slightly tatty and dingy.

The rooms themselves are incredibly sparse and very small. There is no wardrobe or safe for your belongings and just enough room down either side of the bed to walk. However the ceiling does angle down on one side. The shower room has two small shampoos and two small soaps. That's it, as you wouldn't be able to fit anything else in as it's also very tiny. There is no air conditioning and the rooms are stuffy. Don't have a room on the road side as they are noisy. The bed is so uncomfortable with cheap duvet and pillows. Alarmingly there is no phone so if your mobile doesn't work you are stuffed if there is an emergency. However, all said it was clean and the towels were changed every day.

You have to reserve your breakfast and this doesn't start until 1000 on a weekend. The bar is lovely, but is not open as advertised until late. The outside furniture (chairs and umbrellas) are piled into the bar giving a most unwelcome feel, which is a shame as the staff are friendly and accommodating.

Food wise it was lovely, so if you want a meal here I could recommend it, but unless you are a single traveller who doesn't eat breakfast until late, I wouldn't bother staying here.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a room away from the road as its noisy and the rooms are stuffy so you will need to open the window.
