From the planning stage, we were shown by the manager, Harry, three reception rooms that may be used for my mother's Birthday Party. We chose a newly refurbished room towards the rear of the hotel, which had a separate entrance and was light and airy. There were around 40 guests and this room suited our requirements very well. The buffet was excellent and served at the time we requested. We found the staff to be both helpful and pleasant. Overall, we had a very enjoyable afternoon in "The Belmont".

The Belmont in Banbridge is a charming hotel that has undergone significant restoration. The staff are attentive, the bar area very welcoming and the food excellent.

But imagine walking into a newly decorated double aspect light and airy room with brand new carpet and new furniture and then opening the bathroom door only to reveal a dated and dilapidated en suite with a grubby floor!!! We had no choice as the hotel was full that night, but were allocated a 'completed' room the following night and offered a discount for our first.

Room 7 will be stunning when finished, but should it have been available at all until completed?

Had it not been for the issue above I would have rated it 5.

Always a lovely experience here for food. Never had a bad experience, the downstairs bar is nice and modernised after the new decor. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Sides are a bit dearer than usual but you get plenty for your money. Love it

Rang 5 times this morning to make an enquiry and was greeted with no anser everytime and then an answerphone , this is not what you expect when you ring a hotel / restaurant , I have never had this issue before so I dont know what has changed as have been here on numerous occasions , personally dont have time to keep ringing and hate speaking to answering machines

We stayed at Belmont Hotel for three nights recently. It was good value for money and we were very comfortable. This elegant Georgian house is being tastefully refurbished combining its classic style with modern comforts. Our newly decorated room (no 4) was spacious and had beautiful Georgian floor to ceiling windows overlooking mature trees in the garden below. It also had a brand new ensuite with a good shower. It had good WiFi and bedside plugs for easy charging of my phone, and the bed was very comfortable.
We ate in the hotel each day of our stay, in the restaurant on Saturday evening and for Sunday lunch, and in the downstairs bar on the Monday evening. Good food every time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cooked breakfasts were very generous, but we would have liked some fresh fruit and perhaps a more imaginative selection of cereals.
Although the house part of the hotel is small and "boutique" in style it is worth remembering that this hotel also offers corporate facilities and hosts weddings, parties and other large events. We however had a quiet and peaceful stay throughout.
We chose this particular hotel because my 3x great grandfather, Thomas Jackson, was the original architect of the house. I think he would be glad to see the house refurbished so sympathetically. It is a work in progress but so far very good. Thank you Belmont Hotel.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a view over the garden.
