Came here with friends who were visiting from England and their 3 children, I’ve not been here since I was a child. What a delight. We had such a lovely afternoon, there are picnic tables to have lunch, even though it was April we took a packed lunch, the walks were well signposted, the views spectacular, the park is well designed with lots of things for children to go on. I’d highly recommend a visit and I’ll visit again.

We visited Silent Valley mountain park recently as a family of four. It turned out to be a fantastic day out. The park had plenty of choice in relation to different walks and trails to follow depending on the ability of everyone in the group. The scenery on the way to the park was fabulous and we walked up to the reservoir and the binnian tunnel. There was plenty of information around the park also. For younger children there was the facility of a play park. There was also a tea room which provides small snacks.
Parking facilities seemed adequate and there seemed to be plenty of toilet facilities.
Good place to visit.

Where to start with this place, Such natural beauty all around If your feeling up for a walk get the shoes changed and walk to the top dam. What a breath taken experience you will not be disappointed with the views on offer. If you prefer a small walk then the first dam is the place for you. (Or jump on the park bus and it will take you, but I would recommend to walk it’s much nicer inhaling the fresh mountain air) Such a fun place for kids to explore and enjoy the nature around them. There is also a swing park, cafe & a Museum full of the parks history.

Silent Valley Mountain Park, it’s all in the name!!! We visited here in early February. From main Newcastle to Annalong road follow signposts and go via Quarter Road and Head Road to get a scenic trip before arriving. The park itself is a beautifully maintained area with trails suitable for all abilities. The views are to die for especially looking along the Reservoir at the surrounding mountains. Entry is £4.50 per car with a helpful map and you have a coffee shop, museum, duck pond play park education area, toilets etc etc. As you walk there are benches and picnic tables everywhere. The colours were lovely and in the summer must be an absolute spectacle. We’ll be back then to have another look and take some more photos.
