Please keep in mind that most people complain for the sake of complaining. This resort is absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful experience here for our honeymoon. The service was great, the pools and beach are very nice, and our room was wonderful. We stayed in the club level, which I highly recommend. It was nice to grab breakfast or a snack...you might get bored with selections over the week- but what do you expect? there is always something there and drinks are free up there...which was great at lunch or before going out to dinner. I got a massage at the spa which was relaxing and my husband golfed at the resort---and he couldn't have been happier! We truly enjoyed this resort and if we ever return to Maui, we know where we are staying! Thank you.

By now, the extremely windy conditions of this "resort" are well known. Equally troubling is the hot air emanating from the staff. When I booked this room, I was told to expect a "suite with a partial ocean view." What I got was a standard, somewhat stuffy, room with a view of the pool. Imagine vacationing in one of those phony cookie-cutter gated communities, and you'll get the idea. I was also told the hotel is "on the beach." That's true if you don't mind relying on golf carts to shuttle you back and forth to the water. Why is the beach so far away? Intereseting historical footnote: Situated between the hotel and the beach is an expansive burial ground for indigineous Hawaiians. I stumbled across a plaque noting the burial site during my hike in search of the beach. Neither were easy to find...

What a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location!!
Lots to love:
location - not busy
great view
great beach for kids - they loved boogie boarding!
Great restaurants nearby
Club level room was a nice treat!

Lots to not love:
VERY windy (we had previously stayed at Kapalua Bay Hotel so we knew it would be windy, but this was so windy, if you ordered a drink at the pool it would blow over)
Pool attendants were not to be found. 5 out of 6 days, we got our own towels and set up our own chairs. Not a big deal, but when you are paying for 5*, you expect more
Couldn't find someone to order our drinks, went to bar to order
Restaurant at beach was closed - VERY disappointing.
$10 to self-park car, $18 to valet

Next trip to Maui, I think we will try somewhere else...

This was a very disappointing experience for us. It was hard to find the resort because the entrance is barely indicated from the road and completely non-descript. You basically arrive into a parking lot. The lobby is nothing special. Our room was ok but barely above Best-Western level. Our only view was the building in front of us. The hotel location is not very convenient as there is nothing you can reach without having to take your car or a taxi and the resort itself doesn't offer much options. In the evening, it is completely dead. There is no one around, it feels very creepy. The location is extremely windy all the time. The beach is nice but too windy and you have to walk 10 minutes to get there. We saw cockroaches walking around in the corridors and when we informed the front desk, they seemed to be used to this kind of notifications. The front desk staff had a lot of attitude. Considering the price and the reputation of the chain, it was extremely disappointing. We wished we had remained at our previous hotel which was half the price but much nicer.
