“Worst hotel I have stayed in”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2012

We booked a double room for one night and they incorrectly had us down for a twin and refused to even look at our confirmation. Then when I asked for the beds to be strapped together they said that they didn't have any extra sheets or duvets even thought in was only noon and they surely could have worked something out. They also said "it's really easy to just slide the bedside table out".
On top of that the rooms smell like smoke and it feels more like an old people's home than a hotel.
Terrible service and rooms. Good luck if you are staying there.

This was excellent value for money. £19.99 for two people- I went on 27th June with my sister for the afternoon. We had a swin and steam room 1st , unfortunately the jacuzzi was not working. We then went for afternoon tea- choice of hot drink- we went for tea and got very large pot of tea each . Lovely finger sandwiches, smoked salmon and cream cheese, ham, cucumber and egg mayonaise. Scone each with jam and cream and slice of victoria sponge(you could choose your cake from about choice of 4). Lovely afternoon and value for money.

We stayed here on Saturday 23/6/12 and we were upgraded to a standard king size for an additional £10 to pay. The room was big but the bed was terrible and very very soft hence I'd not slept all night. Cobwebs in the bathroom and the decor could have been updated as it was dirty and stained. I would hate to think what the normal king size room consisted of if that was an upgrade? The hairdryer did not work but rang reception and they replaced it with a temporary hairdryer. We had breakfast in the morning at a cost of £10 each and I only had toast and fruit if I'd known how much breakfast was I would have waited till I got home...
I know the Premier Inn has rooms at £29 with a hard bed lovely decor and very good breakfasts at £6.75 so I will never go back to that terrible hotel it was a rip off...

Room Tip: Yes don't book at this hotel go to the premier inn, at least they give you your money back if yo...

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND HOW DEVERE HOTELS CAN CLAIM TO BE A LUXURY BRAND. The room was shabby, walls need painting, some damp in the shower, the door knobs feel dirty because the brass is coming off.No tissues in the room. A smell of damp permeated in all the hotel corridorsor perhaps it was coming from the older sbabbier carpets.
Forced to have dinner at 6.45pm, wine served with sedement in the glass, cheeseboard served without a knife. took a good 20minutes to get the attention of a serverand was left waiting for 30minutes for the bill.
The hotel had a lot of people wbo were on cheap groupon coupons, yet paying the going rate did not deliver better service.
The toiletries werd very poor quality and were labelled 'Brittania Hotel' a group which doesn't claim to be a luxury brand.

Reading some of the previous reviews I wonder whether we'd stayed elsewhere perhaps? This is a stunning hotel, the staff were always smiling and friendly, the room large, clean and well furnished, with the exception of drawer space. There was a bath as well as the shower, and the housekeeping staff were well on the ball. Toilet paper cheap and narrow! The grounds were beautifully kept. The menu was well planned and varied, although the evening meal service was a little slow.
We were in a coach party so maybe this caused them a few problems.....so many people all at the same time. We would certainly be happy to stay there again.
