I concur wholeheartedly with the previous review. Great to find a quality dog friendly cottage, Very cosy especially as we had a very soggy few days. We hope to return in the New Year.
We have been in various dog friendly cottages over the years, but have to say this is THE best one we have stayed in. The Cottage was so warm & cosy & beautifully decorated to a high spec. The homemade scones, tea, coffee, milk were a lovely welcome upon arrival. The bed was so comfortable.....it was just gorgeous. Our cocker spaniel settled in very well & was so relaxed.
The scenery is beautiful & there are some lovely walks too. We loved it so much that we have booked again for December.
We stayed here from Friday to Tuesday in late October. What a lovely comfortable cottage awaited our arrival .
Lorraine , the owner , has decorated this cottage out so well , with quality furniture , fittings , bed linen etc .
We were welcomed by some lovely home made scones with jam and cream and with milk and tea bags .
The cottage is well heated and very comfortable and is well situated for walking , biking or dog walks.
Although Mitcheldean itself , won’t win any prizes for the prettiest village, we found the local people very friendly and chatty. We especially liked the local butchers shop ( Kevin’s Butchers ) in Mitcheldean with a very friendly proprietor.
We loved this place so much, we have booked another stay here in December.
We have stayed in many dog friendly cottages over the last 12 years and we both agreed that this is the best we’ve stayed in so far . Other more expensive cottages have been poor in comparison. This owner knows how to do it well . Full marks , from Chris, Tina and Ella the cocker spaniel.
We stayed in No 1. It was clean, more than adequately equipped, warm, comfortable and quiet. There was a tv but we didn't switch it on once - a whole week without television: what bliss. Parking was close to the front door.
The cottage is at the north-east edge of the Forest of Dean and we found that all of the places we wanted to visit, as first-timers to the area, were within a 30-40 min drive, many of them much closer than that.
We had nigh on perfect late autumn weather for six of the seven days - an unexpected bonus.
Thanks for everything, Lorraine.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful area with walks from the door. Everything we needed for a perfect holiday, even the weather was kind to us. Also much appreciated welcome pack for us and the dog
