It is difficult to describe just how good 'Franco's' is. From the outside it looks cold and unwelcoming, not inviting at all. The inside could not be any more different.
Franco, the pizza-maker, is one hell of a character, always happy and keen to entertain the kids. This includes making pizzas in various shapes e.g. a wild boar, a tropical fish, a house!
But what pizzas they are! Thin and crispy, with a huge range of toppings. My personal favourite includes capers, artichoke and local mushrooms. Gorgeous.
And the value for money is gobsmacking. Last night my wife, daughter and I shared a Garlic Bread, a large Coke, a litre of very decent, local white wine, a pizza each and two Limoncello - for a grand total of €31! Unbelievable.
Don't expect this place to be formal or posh, but do expect to have a good time, to eat and drink incredibly well and to be very happy when you see il conto.
