“Lovely comfortable cottage in beautiful quiet setting near the sea”
Reviewed 21 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Boxwell cottage is located on a beautiful working farm complete with herb garden, sunny patio and castle. An ideal spot for a group to relax and tour the area. Very close to long sandy beaches ideal for dogs. Safe and interesting for children. If only we had had some we would have been taken to feed the hens and donkeys!
Make sure to take Jim's tour of the castle and gardens. Wexford and Kilmore Quay are only a short drive away. If the weather is cool there is a cosy log fire. If it is sunny there is a table and chairs in a sheltered area outside the house.
Highly recommended.

“Storybook Setting”

Boxwell Cottage was truly in a Storybook Setting with a Castle, gardens, country lanes, farm animals, terraced lawns, equestrian stabled grounds, and such a wonderful hostess, Anna. Anna went out of her way to show us such great hospitality and gave us an amazing tour of the Castle. The history of Butlerstown Castle is incredible and we were so fortunate to be able to experience it. The 300 year old cow stable was converted and restored into two cottages that represented a period in time and were beautifully decorated with antiques. No details were spared and the workmanship was excellent. The beds were so comfortable. Butlerstown Castle and Boxwell Cottage were in itself a great destination. The atmosphere was very tranquil. The location was central to traveling around the Southwest part of Ireland.

Liked best: There were beautiful views everywhere.
Liked least: The men in our group wished there were showers. Boxwell Cottage was advertised as having 3 bathrooms. There were only 2. That was fine for us, but others need to know this.

“Surpassed all expectations”
Reviewed 6 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We rented both the Boxwell and Bagenal-Harvey cottages for a family get-together to mark our mum's 60th birthday. There were 1 of us in total. We thought the setting would be something our mum would enjoy but we never expected it to be such a joy for everyone, young and old. The cottages are amazingly restored and decorated, filled with antiques and the beds were far too comfortable. Anna and Jim were such gracious hosts. Anna had a troop of helpers accompanying her every morning to feed the hens - ranging from 5 to 60 years old. We woke the first morning to find two donkeys and a few sheep wandering around the front garden. The kids could hardly contain themselves with excitement. I'm not sure whether the kids or adults enjoyed the tour of the old castle tower more. We were all awe-struck by it. And the view from the top is spectacular. Everything we could have needed was provided including logs for the fire, a well-stocked kitchen, board games and even story books for the kids which came in very handy around the fire in the evening. The teenagers weren't happy abut the lack of wifi and the patchy phone signal. Personally I thought it was a blessing. The only inconvenience was that there were no showers, just baths. But it was a great opportunity to have a long luxurious bubbly bath.

All in all, the most relaxing, enjoyable holiday we have had in years. We will definitely be back.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting, attached to fascinating castle”
Reviewed 9 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Cottages are beautifully converted from old cow sheds and attached to a wonderful castle. Owners Jim & Anna were extremely helpful and friendly, taking my 4 year old to feed hens and donkeys plus a terrific guided walk with Jim inside the castle. Very safe spot for kids to run around and explore. Recommended.

“Lovely cottage in rural setting”
Reviewed 1 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

A lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful setting. Ideal for families and older people. Delightful cottage in lovely, safe surroundings at the foot of a castle- excellent to use as a base for exploring Wexford. The open fire kept us warm on cold evenings. Lots of space and tables for family to do all their own things. Anna was lovely with the children letting them feed their chickens (and giving us an egg a day) and donkeys.
