We stayed in Maison Oenepon for two weeks. What a treat! The house is located in La Brosse. The nearest village with a little bakery is Guipy (about 15 minutes walking). Corbigny (ten minutes by car) is a bit bigger and has stores (supermarkets, butchers, bakery's etc.).
The cottage is spacious and beautiful, with a large garden, located in the French countryside. The cottage can be a bit rough around the edges and gives you a bit of a cabin feel. See the attached pictures for an impression. The doorway to the smaller second bedroom is obstructed by an oak support beam, so you have to bend over getting in (carrying a 10kg toddler!). The master bedroom and bathroom are large and adequate. The kitchen is fully equipped and features a large dining table. The salon has a big fireplace. In the garden are multiple (concrete) sun-decks and plenty of garden chairs (sorry we broke one). The best part about the garden is the (unheated) swimming pool.Twice a week a friend of the owner comes by checking the pool and maintaining it.
The pricing of Maison Oenepon is a bit lower than comparable places in France. You get a lot for your money, but don't expect a five-star hotel standard. The owner is very friendly and quick (always within a day) in replying mails. Also, the cottage features free WiFi.
Also available for renting is a smaller building (the Bergery). Equipped with it's own kitchen and bathroom it is perfect for an additional couple. (We invited our parents over.)
The only real complain we have is that the cottage was very dusty on arrival. It looked like spring cleaning skipped a year and only the visible surfaces were quickly cleaned. We let the owner know and I trust that he took this advice and did something about is.
