Service was excellent and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. We ordered greens as an appetizer and they were very good! Generous portion for four people. We had their New England clam chowder and that was also very good. My main course was chicken riggies. They were not a hit in my book. The sauce was not a sauce, more like an extremely light marinara. I like a vodka sauce. Not much flavor and too dry.

I don't typically write restaurant reviews unless the restaurant is amazing or very disappointing. Unfortunately this restaurant is in the latter category. The restaurant used to be a large chain Mexican restaurant. I do think that the current restaurant has done a nice job trying to give it more of a small restaurant feel. The bar is long and beautiful. I will give them that. After that everything else was disappointing. Service was lackluster. Several examples of wait staff not sure which table to serve food to. Wine list was not updated. Waitress was unaware of which wines were not available and had to go ask. Service of the food was slow and the menu States it's because they're trying to cook things from scratch. I can tell you that the entrees we're not impressive. And $16 for my son's rigatoni and Bland marinara sauce and 2 small mushy meatballs is highway robbery and not impressive. Homemade Cavatelli were like miniature dough bricks in very wet vodka sauce. The balsamic vinaigrette is really just balsamic vinegar + olive oil. Please call it what it is. The eggplant had more breading than eggplant. And I asked for a pesto sauce and a restaurant with basil in its name should make a pesto sauce. Unfortunately one was not available.

I have been to this establishment many times, each time to my disappointment. Service was lacking, food was bland and not hot, plate had a tremendous amount of water from the pasta, server never came to our table to check on our meals, food was massively over priced for the service and quality.

The food isn't bad, just overpriced for what you get. Adding 3 medium shrimp to a pasta dish cost $6.00 which is ridiculous. One small piece of tomato and 1 slice of cucumber on top of a bowl of lettuce is an 'included salad'. The vodka riggies were decent, not outstanding. Nice wine list though - a bit on the pricey side.

If you enjoy home cooked Italian, Basil Leaf in N. Syracuse is your place.
Everything is made in house including all their pastas, breads and pizza dough.
This family owned restaurant is definitely not a chain restaurant
It may take a few more minutes because your meal will be made to be order fresh.
If it's your first time there, the staff make you feel like old friends
