“Perfect Christmas get away”
Reviewed 22 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

My family (husband & toddler) and sister's family (husband, 8yr old & toddler) decided to get away for Christmas and ran away to France.

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The house was large enough to accommodate both family's with no problem, there's large garden with play area for children, a horse in a nearby garden to feed carrots too in the morning. There's a small park around the courner and a cycle path which takes you all the way to dieppe! The only downside was that there's no resturants within walking distance, there's a shop which serves fresh pastries and small bar but wasn't serving food when we visited.

Kitchen: Has all modcons (including 'the must' have dishwasher) and plenty of cutlery. There's a log burner, dining table and chairs in the kitchen area, which is lovley and felt like home as we all live with a similar layout.

Living room: Has two comfi sofas, flat screen tv with English freeview. There's also another dining table and chairs which makes for an epic lego building table :)

Bedrooms: The bedrooms are all of good size, with plenty of storage space, the beds are very comfi and would go as far and say that the most comfy beds we've slept in outside of our own!

Bathrooms: Very clean and towels provided, theres 3 loos, shower room and separate bath. Only niggle was the shower height was slightly low for my tall husband (over 6ft).

There's a playroom/extra living room on the top floor which makes for nice chill out space, it has books in both English and french and selection of toys and dolls house.

General: Heating is good and the auto timings are set just right, we're used to living in old houses and expected it to be chilly in the mornings/early hours but it was toasty. The same with the hot water and never noticed it running cold. The internet isn't great but we found the best place to get 3G was in the blue bedroom room on the bed or in the kitchen dining area.

Tim and Meryl have been excellent to communicate with and wonderful hosts, they even arrange for a Christmas tree to be delivered with decorations for us to put on, this went down a treat with the kids. Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again one day.

“Relaxing holiday for all ages”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Nine of us, aged 13-77, enjoyed a relaxing week at Les Hortensias. We loved sitting in the sunny garden, hiring bicycles from the local bar, eating and drinking at the local bar. Some of us loved feeding the horses!
The house was spacious and comfortable, well equipped with books, games and basic food-stuffs (so handy no to have to buy herbs, tea etc).
It was handy to be able to walk to the village shop, Dieppe was a short drive away for seaside treats.
Having to go into the garden to pick up WiFi, added to the holiday mood - the addicts would meet there in a huddle!
We had forgotten about the deposit, which Tim returned to us promptly.

“The Perfect Christmas”

We stayed at the wonderful French home Christmas 2013. We have 5 children and took the grandparents including great granny so the age group was 1 to 91. We had the best time! The house has lots of space and the children kept occupied in the top floor which had bundles of toys and games. Tim and Meryl made us feel extremely welcome even before we arrived, by arranging a turkey and Christmas tree completely going the extra mile for us. The kitchen was fantastic and was well equipped to cook our Christmas lunch. Beds were extremely comfortable too. Great location and beautiful village with friendly village shop and tourist attractions close by. It was an easy 2 hour drive to Disney. Will definitely return here when we next visit France. Thanks to Tim and Meryl who made our stay very special.

“Wow, what a fantastic house!”

We all fell in love with the place - it far exceeded our expectations. Beautiful building, beautifully furnished...

Our weekend there was lovely but too short and we will definitely be back. We've stayed in a few places in France but this one tops them all - very elegant, yet still relaxing and comfortable.
