“Lovely stay at beautiful home in quaint East Dean village”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I just returned from a week long stay at the Spinney with my husband, 2 young children and my in-laws. The house is really lovely and gardens are beautiful. It's nice to be a bit outside of Eastbourne, yet still very close to the seafront, beach head, etc. The owner met us at the house the first day to show us around a bit, which was very nice. Bedrooms are all fine and beds are comfortable. Plenty of space to spread out and relax with lounge and sunroom. Large table in the dining room, as well as in the kitchen. Plenty of utensils, mugs, etc in the kitchen. We appreciated the WIFI greatly.Pool was a bit cold, as expected this time of year, but my children still had a bit of a swim each day. I would love to stay again in years to come!

“Great house in great location”
Reviewed 19 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Just back from the Spinney.Had a fantastic time.
We were a party of 4adults and 4 children.
The house has a dining room which we managed to seat 10 round. The conservatory is a nice place to relax. The lounge is comfortable. The bedrooms and beds were fine and everyone slept well. The kitchen/breakfast room is an ideal size but needs some decent casseroles/cooking dishes.I had to buy some foil ones to do a meal.
Having the pool was great. The children were in there most days.Water was a BIt too COLD for the adults though. It is a very deep pool with no shallow end for toddlers.
The house was very clean but some things need updating eg electricals, kitchen utensils etc..WIFI would have been a bonus as mobile phone reception is poor.
The garden is enormous so plenty of space for the children to run around.
The house is in a great location with plenty of places to visit a short drive away.

“A great house”
Reviewed 12 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed at the The Spinney in East Dean for the last two weeks, with our three children, ages 4, 9 and 12. We used the house as a base to visit family in England who live in the local Sussex area, and it was ideal for this. Also we wanted a place to entertain our large, extended UK family and held a very enjoyable family reunion at the house one afternoon - so the large gardens were excellent for our many nieces and nephews to run around. Also the pool was a big hit and we felt reasonably safe since it is well fenced.
The eat-in kitchen and family room are a good size, and we would often leave the kids there to watch TV, while we sat in the sun room next door - a very nice spot for a glass of wine at the end of the day. The bedrooms are a good size for an English house, and 3 showers upstairs.
We stayed two weeks and the owners sent a cleaner at the end of the first week which was most welcome for a two week stay. We found the owners very prompt and responsive, when we had a couple of light bulbs go.
In fact we booked through the 'Exclusively Eastbourne" booking agent (Sarah or Carl), and they handled the booking, payment and deposit refund very smoothly, promptly and with out any problems.
Local amenities in this part of Sussex are just great, another reason we decided to make this our family vacation - we hiked locally with the kids, went to Battle Abbey and toured the battle field, walked to dinner at The Tiger Inn (more than once!), went to the Fort at Newhaven, shopped in The Lanes at Brighton and much more. Local grocery stores are a few miles away in Eastbourne and Seaford (10 mins) but not far.
Nothing really negative to say about the place, my only wish would be for one thing .......WIFI !

“A wonderful stay....”
Reviewed 2 March 2012 for a stay in January 2012

We booked from Spain and were concerned because of a previous review concerning the owner, but decided to take the risk because of the amazing photos of the house, pool and views.
We are so glad we took the risk and ignored the opinion of one person! The house was everything we hoped it would be and whats more found the owner to be charming and attentive. Coming from Spain and not knowing the area, he was happy to advise about places to go and was eager to make sure we were comfortable in the property. We will definately return again, next time in the summer when we could take advantage of the pool.
