“Somewhere Special”

Dined here whilst on holiday nearby.

If you want quility food over quantity. If you want to be treated as honoured guests rather than paying punters. If you want to sit in a modern conservatory with outstanding views of a woodland forrest rather than facing blank walls then this is the place for you.

The menu is small but is full of dishes that are interesting and different, and only hint at the superb taste that awaits.

I'm a wheelchair user. There is access and a disable toilet. I would however urge other wheelchair users to check in advance. To get to the toilet there is a narrow doorway and not all chairs can get through.

Highly recommended.

Hello TerryandLinda. We're delighted to know you both enjoyed dining with us and thank you for making the quantity/quality point. As you know, we learnt a lesson ourselves regarding access to all facilities and we will be more thorough in dealing with similar situations in the future.

with kind regards,

My husband booked the restaurant for our anniversary as a surprise. The setting is fabuous, the welcome warm and friendly, the food superb and the service wonderful. We both had a very special evening here and would like to thank everyone for looking after us so well. We will be recommending it to all our friends and hope to return soon.

Booked this at the last minute to celebrate my mothers 79th birthday with my two sisters. Did not arrive till late as we were at work that day so were too late for the complimentary tea and cake, but will catch it next time. The whole experience was wonderful. The owner pays attention to every detail and makes you very welcome as do all the staff. They all made a great fuss over my mother which made her day. The food was fabulous from the starter to the coffee with homemade truffles. Best meal I have ever had. Ask for a table in the conservatory as the view is fab. The rooms are nicely decorated as are the lounge and dining room. Will definitely be back.

We only made our booking the day before arrival, and due to work issues pitched up just before 7 in the evening - not an ideal time for staff who are about to start dinner service. Despite this we were given the warmest of welcomes and shown to our room without the slightest hint of being hurried.
It is clear that the owners have put a huge amount of thought into making best use of the space available and as a result the property has a light and spacious feel to it. Many reviewers quite rightly commend the quality of the food, which we found to be excellent. It was also a very nice touch to have the owner (Kath) take the time to talk through the menu in an informative and knowledgable manner. I would also mention that breakfast the following morning was as good as we have experienced anywhere!
The real jewel(s) in the crown though are the staff - although they appear to be a small team, everyone we met was unfailingly pleasant, welcoming and genuine, making us feel as though we were staying with good friends.
Excellent!!!

A 2 night stay to celebrate my 40th birthday. The hotel is well appointed and comfortable. It is in a beautiful rural woodland location, with amazing views across to Skiddaw. We received a friendly and relaxed welcome. All staff clearly enjoy working here and the owners are rightly proud of what they have created. The highlight though has to be the food, which was just fantastic. I can highly recommend this hotel.
