“One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 25 October 2011

We just had one night at the Hotel des Trois Couronnes but were there long enough to take full advantage of the spa which seems to have have been recently redecorated and is very serene. The hotel was quiet when we were there and this added to the relaxing ambience of the place.

Our room had a great view over the lake with the French Alps in the distance, with an interior that was authentic to the age of the hotel while at the same time having modern bathrooms and comfortable furniture, although the sofa could possibly have done with being re-sprung. Room service food was expensive (to be expected) but arrived promptly. Service everywhere is impeccable, there are always staff "around" to check everything is ok. Check-in and check-out was very courteous and everyone's English is excellent.

Breakfast was included; we had fruit from the buffet and ordered extra eggs which were very good. You also get a welcome drink at the bar at check-in.

Definitely recommended for a special occasion.

Room Tip: Junior suites facing over the lake are great if they are available; two bathrooms, enormous beds and...

Hotel des Trois Couronnes has been one of my favorite hotels in the world for many years. Me and my husband have visited the hotel numerous times & were always very much impressed with the accomodation, service & stunning views.

Unfortunately on our latest the view was the most positive aspect. It seems that the hotel is fading. Service was at reception was friendly as always, except for the restaurant. The food was served too quickly; it seemed as if the staff wanted to close up shop & get us out of the restaurant better sooner than later. We had reserved a table with lake view and ultimately got a table in the corner of the restaurant, whereas the tables at the window were not occupied. The head waitress didn't seem to take the complaints seriously.

The always impeccable spa seemed rather dirty this time, there were hairs in the shower & there appeared to be rather nasty stains in the water, it looked rather greasy. Also I detected black spots on the bottom of the pool.

Last but not least the room wasn't as well maintained as the last time. The wall paper was damaged, there seemed to be a blood stain on the wall nearby the bed. We very politely noted these comments at check out to he manager on duty, who promised to report this to the management and get back to us. Up until now, we have not received any feedback. Our stay was on 22-09-11.

Most disappointing fact is that as repeat guests we did not get any form of feedback. In a competitive hotel business I find this to be very sloppy and arrogant. Maybe next time we will think about going to the Kempsinki hotel in Vevey, which offers the same beautiful view.

This 5-star hotel is situated in a wonderful position, at the edge of Lac Leman, with a terrace and the best rooms looking across to the mountains opposite. It is very expensive, especially for guests to whom the rate of exchange against the Swiss Franc is very disadvantageous.
However, for anyone looking for a special stay, it is hard to fault. The service is extremely professional, but very friendly. The bedroom was beautifully clean and kept to a high standard throughout our stay. The terrace could get a bit noisy at times, with business groups and was a popular place for evening drinks. However, although our room overlooked the terrace, we were not disturbed by noise beyond a reasonable time at night.
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the concierge desk helpful and very efficient.
We have only two points which leave this hotel falling short of perfection in its category.
One was the chipped paint and furniture both in our bedroom and on the landing - but we think more renovation work is planned. The second was the breakfast butter and jams, honeys, cheeses, being in little catering containers, as found in 2-star hotels and on planes. They were also not from Switzerland, as described, which seemed a small, but unnecessary, lack of attention to detail from a 5-star hotel.
The spa seems superb and it is a hotel to choose without hesitation, for a rest in great comfort and beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: A superior room, with lake views, is worth the extra cost.

This historic hotel, made famous by Henry James novel Daisy Miller and the film version of the story, deserves its title as the "grande dame" of Vevey hotels. Normally, this is very high end and priced accordingly, but we got a good price twice for large and very, very comfortable rooms, one with a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva, and both with gorgeous, luxurious bathrooms with fine amenities. The spa/pool area offers many treatments and a large swimming pool, with locker facilities and indoor and outside rest areas, and there's a great gym with modern exercise machines, free weights and cable tv (for long cardio). Service is four-five star as one would expect. Free parking on site if there's space. Location is stunning, right on the lake and around the corner from old Vevey, full of fascinating shops, from high end fashion to book stores to just quirky little places selling tea and coffee, etc. Try the creperie that advertises great capuchino for breakfast. If price isn't an issue, it's a truly great place for a romantic and healthy overnight or weekend.

Room Tip: Lakeside, with balconey if possible. Street side can be noisy.

Going to Switserland these days is an expensive endeavor and Hotel Des Trois Couronnes is no exception at that. But if you decide to go for the more luxury option it's the best choise on the Suise riviera by far. Located in picturesque Vevey village with a huge terrace overlooking the splendor of Lac Leman (the Suise name of lake Geneva) it's perfectly situated and close to both Montreaux and Lausanne. The rooms are fully equipped and very spacious, the spa and indoor pool are beautiful, the food is exquisite oh and did I mention the terrace... Although the modern rooms and facilities the hotel has a heritage that goes back for more then 150 years and this is clearly visible in all the beautiful interior details. This heritage also reflects in the attentive personal service of the staff and GM Jay Jauer, who is sure to come by your table for a short intermetzo. Wheather for business or Leasure hotel Des Trois Couronnes is sure to exceed your expectations.
