The Colonel's resort is a perfect cozy place to stay for everyone, from us kids to adults. The night time bonfire was great and so was the hospitality. The dishes served in the buffet were different everyday and had a good variety . Fresh organic salad from their own field to the Colonel's special desert after dinner. The resort gave a feeling of relaxation as any great hotel would. It may not be the same for all people but I know I enjoyed our visit to bir and our time spent in the Colonel's resort. The horse riding experience was great and my sister thoroughly enjoyed it. The presence of their pet( a rough collie) at first seemed intimidating but by the time we were leaving it was difficult to even say bye to Ginger. She was energetic and enthusiastic. She was entertaining and lovely. colonel uncle is really warm n so is his whole family.
P.S. Mum Loved the pear jam..

This was my first solo trip and I decided to travel to the hills! My friend suggested I stay at the Colonel’s resort. Initially I was nervous to be travelling alone but after I spoke to Colonel, I felt a lot more relaxed. The moment I landed at Kangra airport, Col JP Singh ensured I was picked up on time and my journey was smooth. When I reached the resort, I was just speechless to see the beauty of the place. I had such a warm welcome. The resort is a beautiful and safe place for families and solo travellers too. You feel so close to nature. The rooms are clean spacious and well maintained. The staff are courteous and caring. The food is healthy, yummy and delicious. A right mix of non veg and veg. There was a different variety each day. They have a nice seating area with bonfire too.

Most importantly, Colonel, Ma’am, Vikram Aditya and Kamakshi took such good care of me. Felt like home. We had such lovely chats and conversations. Such a wonderful feeling! Colonel organised the sight seeing and ensured I had no difficulties. He took me for a walk into the nature through the villages.. such a beautiful experience! Vikram advised and guided me about the place and Ma’am and Kamakshi ensured I had a good time, was comfortable and ate well. Vikram and Kamakshi took me to 2 wonderful places around the resort, an experience I will always cherish! Oh, and how can I not mention ginger, their pet! She is so cool and friendly!

I’m so grateful to have stayed here, met beautiful people, experienced a lovely place with breath taking views, yummy food.. The warmth and hospitality of the people has definitely touched my heart and I highly recommend you stay at the Colonel’s Resort to experience it yourself! I am so happy I decided to travel and stay at the Colonel’s Resort! I’m definitely coming back soon!

A dream-like workation with awesome fresh food, Instagram-worthy views.

Got to learn so many things from Aunty. Food was always fantastic throughout our stay. Colonel uncle knows the whole area like the back of his hand and guided us to some of the most scenic spots around.

Staff was very attentive, professional and very friendly.

Can’t wait to be back here !

There cannot be a better place to stay in bir than colonel's resort. Not only will you find yourself in a most picturesque environment, this place also ticks all the boxes you need for a comfortable stay. Rooms are clean, comfortable, with warm interiors and very well equipped. The food served here also deserves mention as most of the ingredients used are grown in house in their farm so all organic and healthy. It is sure to delight the most seasoned veg or non veg pallete. It is also quite central and all the hiking spots are close by. If you need to step out far the transport company the resort ties up with is very reliable with clean cars and decent drivers. What stands out the most is the hospitality of Colonel J P Singh .He is a veteran when it comes to suggesting places to go and he is known to everyone here. Whoever comes here will have no problems at all in moving around and knowing what to do. Truly this resort is a class apart and totally worth it. Highly recommend.

Just returned from a memorable trip to Bir Billing. Memorable in multiple ways - the thrills of paragliding, the laid-back small-town life, the lovely countryside, sumptuous food or a luxurious stay at Colonel’s Resort.

Tucked away in village Chogan, close to Bir, Colonel’s Resort is a 25-acre expanse of greens amidst beautiful mountains – just the right place for peace and tranquility. Set up by Colonel JP Singh, the resort has been designed tastefully by his architect wife.

The 10 rooms in the Standard, Deluxe and Super Deluxe categories are spacious, airy and fitted with all amenities to make your stay comfortable.
The restaurant provided fresh and tasty buffets forf breakfast, lunch and dinner. What’s remarkable is that the Colonel’s entirely family is devoted to making your stay a comfortable and pleasant experience. From asking your choice of meals (they even served trout on request) to interaction with all guests at their respective dining tables.

The lawns are lush green with monsoon rains – a view that is available right from the bedside. It is blooming with flowers and the trees are laden with juicy pears, with tea gardens on the periphery. Horse riding is also available for the adventurous minded.

All the Colonel’s team members – from the Manager Titar Singh to restaurant and housekeeping staff were so eager to be of help, as would the Colonel himself – from arranging transfers from and to airport to suggesting the most experienced paragliding pilots and co-ordinating, that one felt spoilt for choice.

More than a resort, it is a home, away from home. Look forward to coming home again!

Room tip: All rooms overlook greens; however plan early to avoid disappointment as this is a small resort and occupancy is usually full.
