This mini, country hotel/resort reminds us of another time, where decor, staff service, food quality and attention to detail are long forgotten. Personally, reminds us of Baguio Country Club, RP or Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, MI. Period outfits of staff are great as are all furniture and art selections. Very inviting atmosphere, even if exterior looks like a 1960s Soviet apartment building.

Superior spa with extensive and great services. Hotel has pool, sauna, gym, susn tanning room, tennis courts, etc.

Places to enjoy outside gardens or relax on a enclosed solarium/sun bathing patio.

Well worth a stay for a few nights.

Indeed a pleasant surprise stay. The hospitality, the relax atmosphere and cozy feeling grows on you as each moment passes by..

With the perfect weather for the past 03nights, the no a/c unit is totally justifiable.

Been there for the the fourth time or so over a couple of years, mostly as couple(s) as we enjoy the cuisine, service and leisure facilities in- and out doors.

Arrived Saturday 30.12. around 2 pm and our room 603 (quiet, almost end corridor, north view) was already there for us. Room has a cupboard to the left holding around 20 hangers, and a smaller one with shelfspace and safe. Mirror to the right of entrance door, and small door into

a small bathroom with spacious shower (but a step into it of almost 20cm), loo and a sink, floor heating, red light for additional warmth and the rinks for the towels that can be switched on. All in yellowish tiles but well kept. Cleenex, shower gel and caps, body lotion and slippers in a basket that is handy to take to the pool. No ear buds. Liquid soap on the wall at sink.

The room as such has a stand for the suitcase with cupboard underneath, desk with flat screen TV and sufficient space to hold a lamp, books and space to work at, French balcony above the river, armchair and setts for 2. The bed is ok for two, mattress a bit soft for my taste, two cushions and warm but light cover. All carpeted, warm wood and earth colors.

Service everywhere is very friendly, from reception, bell boys, ladies cleaning the room, house keeping, bars, restaurants to poos and physiotherapists „Melzer‘s“. The house was full for the „turn of the year“ parties, so the room came at EUR 290 (breakfast and dinner included) plus 200 extra for the New Year‘s Eve dinner at Lollo Rosso Restaurant, three live bands and the best artificial fireworks display I’ve seen so far.

Food is generous and delicious, the wine list more European focused and the owners, Mr and Mrs Seela the souls of the establishment. Despite 600 guests (we had to have dinner in 2 turns except NYE) logistics went extremely well and the weekly Prosecco reception also took place.

The subterranean pool area is nicely designed but could use a renovation in the ladies‘ showers and doors. Melzer‘s spa is as delightful and professional and calm as a professional spa by physiotherapists should and can be - we always love to make as much use of their services as we can fit into each stay.

Every day there is an agenda of activities in the hotel and outside, so you pay a high price for a hotel in the countryside but you also get a lot in return.

All in: we would recommend this great combination of service and quality to people looking for a quiet place to enjoy for spa, food and exploring the Harz region. Thank you everybody who Meade our stay again such a memorable one!

This hotel offers a premium service of a standard that is quite rare in such a rural area. The interior design however, although being clean and in an immaculate state of repair, is quite oldfashioned and slightly ridiculous. The room I had was comparatively small for a hotel of this category. One star deduction for food in the Kurpark restaurant. Options are plentiful but everything was oversalted. Also, the WiFi is a joke.

Just here for a flying visit during the day on business, but impressive enough.
The exterior looks a bit dour, but inside is grand and opulent.
All food and drink was served with passion and pride, and deservedly so. Delicious.
My colleagues felt the same.
Just enough parking space.
