Great food and had a terrific Italian waiter, Giancarlo. Found the restaurant on Trip advisor and we were nearby. Glad we tried it.

We went to this place last night for dinner. The waitress took our drinks order while decided what food to order. I went to this location for a particular meat platter that some other guests had posted photographs of on TripAdvisor, but the waitress said they wouldn't do it as it was too busy. The rest of the menu was quite standard regional dishes, so it was difficult to decide. She returned, still without the drinks, saying that she was waiting for us to decide if we wanted to eat there before bringing the drinks. More professional would have been to bring the drinks and give us time to decide.
The food we chose was quite tasty, although the lettuce leaves of the salad had not been washed properly, so we were crunching on earth/sand, which was rather unpleasant. I mentioned it to the older bald waiter, so that they could improve things in future. He just grunted, not really bothered at all!! Either he was having a bad day or is always like that...?!? One young drunk customer went to the toilet with his beer. This member of staff told him to leave it on the table, grabbed it from his hand, took it outside and banged it down on the table! Disgusting behaviour!
This same drunk customer was going from table to table harassing other guests, and then decided to sit with them at their table. He was known to the waitress, who didn't seem bothered at all by this disruptive and rude behaviour!
We went to this place because of the high ratings on TripAdvisor. We would not rate them so highly because the poor service really let the place down. Next time, we will go elsewhere.
We arrived for a late lunch and were warmly welcomed by the staff. Their english was limited but was enough to help us order as menus are in German.
We tried Bambergs famous smoked beer (locals drink it for breakfast) not a favour\rite of mine, I preferred the white beer.
To eat there was 4 f us and we chose to share the Wiener Schnitzel pork flank and fries12 Euro and Bamberg Skillet for 2 persons for 28 Euro which included pork shank and shoulder, bratwurst sausages, potato dumplings, fried potatoes, sauerkraut and cabbage. It was sensational, I can not recommend highly enough. It was a Bamberg highlight. On another note the shopping in Bamberg was great!!
Dined here fot lunch on Easter weekend. The place was packed so we were seated at a table of two other German couples. We ordered the smoked trout which was Gluten Free and I had the Bierhaxe, the pork knuckle braized in beer. To follow the beer theme I had a famous smoked beer, or Rauchbier. It was all extremely delicious and filling as are most German meals. The place is quaint and obviously popular. A nice stop to fill up when visiting the wonderful city of Bomberg.
We dined here on April 8th at around 8 pm. I am writing that as I hope the manager sees this and is able to address our experience with the server; she was our worse experience at any restaurant in Germany. We really enjoyed the food, and the smoked beer was delicious. But the service was downright hostile, and we did not return for that reason. We chose their competitor next door for two other meals (1lunch, 1dinner). The server chastised us for ordering a smoked beer in Englsh, slammed our drinks on the table, snorted when we ordered the Franconian skillet, and chastised us again when we asked for water. We decided to make a joke out of it rather than getting upset. We were over the top polite, just to see if it would soften her up a bit--it didn't, the food was indeed amazing, the outdoor patio is lovely, and the beer is fantastic. But the middle aged woman with dark hair and glasses should not be working with the public. She's truly awful. If you sit down and are approached by her, you may want to treat her rudeness as a joke as we did. Otherwise, she may well ruin your evening, as she did for four other people sitting around us, all of whom got up and left after she chastised them for various issues.
