Owner description: Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - our objects aren't locked away in glass cases, this is hands-on history! Step into the past and explore our 350 acre site, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Taste traditional food from a coal-fired range, hop on board a tram or steam train, play schoolyard games together and pop into the Co-op shops. Come back time and time again with your Beamish Unlimited Pass, which allows 12 months free entry to the museum from your visit - including all day time special events!

We came here Easter weekend, we had a great day despite the rain. My other half and young children had never been before but I have been a couple of times as a child. My children especially enjoyed the old school and the musical instruments. We went on the old buses, tram and steam train. Bought some chocolate from the sweet shop, had a look around the old houses and businesses in the town. We also went down the mine. Good day out

Visited this museum yesterday (5/4/18) what a place, staff extremely friendly and helpfull.
lots to do plenty of attractions, good tea room and reasonable prices.
will warn you though there is a lot of walking if you miss the bus between attractions and donot want to wait twenty minutes for the next one.
All in all a excellent day out.

After a good 5 hours we still haven’t seen everything Beamish has to offer. We went as a large group with kids from 4 months to 9! There was something for them all to do from tram and funfair rides to making bonnets and seeing farm animals. Would totally recommend taking a picnic as there are big queues for the food/ drinks places and get there for 10 as it gets busy. The site is vast so you need to walk and be dressed for the weather as the trams and buses get full quickly (buggies need to be folded to use these). We met some lovely people working there; taking time to answer a vast number of questions from the children. Luckily one ticket is valid for the year so we can go back again. Not disabled friendly.

We took the Easter break out to Beamish museum to experience the display of veteran cars, buses and vehicles, all a great plus indeed and a marvelous display! Well done by all the crew and engines put out on live display for the day. The park itself is a bit spread, each village still a bit crowded and some empty displays in the small farmhouses (where the animals missing?) . This park has huge potential, but looks a bit unfinished at present. Huge waiting lines to get food, coffee or an ice cream. Wonder how this will be in peak season...

This museum is a must for both locals and visitors to the area. There is plenty to see and do for all age groups and the museum is constantly being added to. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable and clearly enjoy working at the museum. Great food served at the cafe too. The admission fee means you can revisit for a year, so certainly value for money.
