We had a really good experience with the MadTrek Adventures. The communication was clear and easy. The heads of the company, Kailash and Abhinav were really helpful, advising us and clarifying everything we wanted to know before our trip. We booked a trek to Triund, the guide Arjun was with us from the beginning till the end and made the experience much easier, he had everything we could need, from raincoats to the motivation we needed to make the last steps.
It was a wonderful experience with stunning views. We definitely recommend contacting MadTrek Adventures for the organisation of your adventures as they are reliable, honnest and trustworthy.
We would definitely get in touch with them on the future, thanks again!
It was a great experience! We trekked up to Ryoti for the day and then went to Kareri the next morning. It was a gorgeous night with more stars in the sky than I've ever seen in Mumbai! They had a great bonfire and the trek organisers were very very sweet and accomodating. I had a couple of first timers with me, and they were very patient with them. It was a bit long, but the view at Kareri is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!
PS: Put sunscreen to prevent dry and peeling skin
We signed up for a 3 day / 2 night Madtrek hike before leaving the UK. We were reassured throughout our travels by the organisation and communication from the coordinator Abhinav, who even went out of his way to help us arrange transport to Dharamsala (from Pathankot).
We met Abhinav before the trek to ensure we were prepared and were told that we couldn’t do the trek we’d signed up for due to unseasonal snow remaining but could do an alternative route to Kareri Lake. There was still some snow apparently but not bad. We asked questions to ensure we were prepared and felt comfortable to go ahead.
Everything about the trip was well organised. Our two guides were very attentive and careful throughout, it would have only been nice if they’d spoken a little more English - but we got by perfectly fine.
The food and equipment provided was also good - the evening meal prepared was impressive with rice, dal, veg and chapatti. We definitely didn’t go hungry! And the tent and sleeping bags plenty warm.
Overall it was a brilliant experience but the one big improvement needed is the better provision of information given before you hike. So you be and feel prepared and also ensure you’re up to the challenge. We thought we were clear and prepared from all the questions we asked but still weren’t and in the end came back from the trek a night early.
Summary:
>The trek on the first day was good but I’d say a little more challenging than the ‘moderate’ label given and our basic trainers didn’t always feel like adequately supportive foot ware. Also as we unexpectedly reached our camp by 2pm there was really no need for such an early start and rush in the morning.
> The snow on the second day hike as we attempted to get to the Lake was pretty extreme (3-4ft the whole way so you couldn’t see the pathway). We were given ill fitting wellies to wear which quickly got filled with snow, soaking our soaks. Every few steps one of your feet would descend through a crevice as the snow melted. It felt pretty precarious. 2hrs in and with around 2-3 to go to reach the lake at our slow pace we decided to turn back.
> Rather than spend another night at the same camp we decided to hike back down to spend the evening back in McLeodganj.
We went to Dharamshala for adventure trip with group of 50 people and we chose madtrek adventure for camping arrangements at their camp badge, really enjoyed everything how they managed our group. Madtrek delivered to us what they promised.
I must recommend to go with their services in Himachal. Thanks Madtrek
I recently visited Dharamshala with my wife and friends, we had planned hiking and paragliding excursions with Mad Trek. Both were well run and very fun, we were so impressed that we signed up for the Himalayan Safari on our last day in town. This is a well organized and well run operator, it was easy to coordinate by email before we arrived in town and once we arrived everything worked smoothly. We especially appreciated that Mad Trek could take us to some places that are less popular with tourists and less crowded. This was one of the highlights of our trip to India!
It was a pleasure hosting you..
Kudos to team Mad Trek for organising and executing a fantastic detail-oriented experience for its patrons. I opted for the Bhagda trek as I wanted an off-tourist map experience.
1. The process of coordinating and booking the trek was easy. The price is very reasonable and half the total amount can be wired before you start. Kailash (from MTA) got in touch with me and gave me details through a PDF and map location.
2. The hospitality is on point. Right from the chap (Naveen Rana: affable, conversational, patient) who guided us uphill, to the hot chai and pakoras, to the simple but delicious meals served, to the team looking after our every need (I'd be remiss if I didn't specifically mention Arjun and Suresh) with a smile on their faces. They literally walked the extra mile to ensure we had a comfortable stay and journeys.
3. The place is Bhagda is terrific. The quietude and the simplicity of it is breathtaking. You won't get cell phone reception or running water or even electricity there, but that's what makes it so unique.
4. A bonfire was organised in the night before dinner, where all guests were invited and served hot soup. It was a nice touch as we got talking to each other and soon enough, started singing and laughing together. The staff takes active part in this.
5. The tent and sleeping bags provided were clean, hygienic and comfortable.
6. Breakfast of hot aloo paranthas with chai was served before we started for our journey back. Arjun even fashioned us some walking sticks which he cut from the woods nearby. Points for attention to detail.
7. Please remember that this isn't exactly glamping. You'd have to push yourself slightly out of your comfort zone, what with dry toilets, no electricity, trek up and down, drinking water from the stream downhill, etc. But it'll be worth your every dime and minute.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place to those who like this sort of a thing, and want to have a memorable short trip. I know I'm going back for more.
Pleasure hosting you...
